NBA Score: Kevin Durant And Golden State Warriors Ruin Drake Night For Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors held a special night for Drake, a globally known rapper whose celebrity status has brought some attention to the team. Unfortunately for them, though, Kevin Durant decided to ruin the evening. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Raptors by a score of 127-121 on Wednesday night, as reported by ESPN.

Against the Toronto Raptors, Kevin Durant had one of those nights where it made all the sense in the world for the Golden State Warriors to open the vault to sign him in free agency this past summer. In addition to scoring 30 points, the 6-foot-9 forward also chipped in with nine rebounds and six assists. Not very many guys in the NBA can put up those types of numbers.

While it is hard enough to beat Kevin Durant when he has an explosive night, it is even more difficult to keep up with the Golden State Warriors when Stephen Curry has a dominant night as well. The dynamic guard and NBA MVP candidate had 35 points and seven assists. Curry went to the free throw line at will, missing only one of the 13 shots that he was given at the charity stripe.

Klay Thompson continues to generate headlines when he struggles, as many are hoping that he has issues adapting to the addition of Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors roster. Missing eight of his shots from outside the three-point line is going to add further fuel to the fire.

Draymond Green had a quietly good night. He contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and three blocks.

There was not a whole lot of help from the bench, but Andre Iguodala contributed to the Golden State Warriors’ victory with 10 points, six assists, and two steals.

Upon signing a contract worth approximately $145 million, DeMar DeRozan wanted to prove to the Toronto Raptors that he was worth very penny. He added to his case with his performance against the Golden State Warriors. The talented guard had 34 points, six rebounds, and four assists. DeRozan also managed to get to the free throw line 17 times, making all of those shots.

Kyle Lowry might have been overshadowed a little bit by his back court partner, but he had himself a tremendous game. The All-Star guard put up 24 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Lowry also shot quite efficiently.

With the Golden State Warriors loving to play with smaller lineups, the Toronto Raptors knew that starting center Jonas Valanciunas was not going to receive a lot of playing time. The 24-year-old center was only given 18 minutes on the floor, but that was enough for 12 points and eight rebounds.

Temporary starting forward Pascal Siakam is trying to make an argument to Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey that he deserves a permanent spot in the rotation after Jared Sullinger returns. He had his best game in a week by chipping in 10 points and nine rebounds.

Cory Joseph and Terrence Ross tried to provide a boost off the bench. The perimeter duo combined for 25 points. Unfortunately, that was not enough to help beat the big night that the Golden State Warriors received from Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Despite the two-game losing streak, the Toronto Raptors are still in charge of the Atlanta Division. Part of that is because the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks have been underachieving a little bit this season.
