Marion Cotillard Talks Brad Pitt Affair Rumors, Compares Their Film To His Angelina Jolie Movie

Marion Cotillard has been the subject of multiple rumors claiming that she had an affair with her co-star, Brad Pitt, during the filming of their movie,Allied. Now, the actress is dishing up the truth about those allegations, and she is also comparing the film that she and Brad created with the movie in which he and Angelina Jolie co-starred, Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

When it comes to addressing what Hollywood Life summed up as those “pesky love affair rumors with Brad Pitt,” Marion made it clear that she “had nothing to do with those rumors or that situation” in a new interview. Cotillard, 41, and Pitt, 52, worked together on their new film, Allied, but when it comes to allegations that they had some sort of affair, the actress emphasized that she didn’t take the claims personally.

“I never take anything personally when it doesn’t concern me and so I didn’t take it personally because I had nothing to do with those rumors or situation,” she pointed out to Today Show interviewer Matt Lauer.

Marion took time instead to gush about her admiration for both the director and her co-star, Brad Pitt.

“I don’t give energy to this and it was a wonderful, wonderful experience working with such a visionary director and an amazing actor [Brad].”

Pregnant with her second child with partner Guillaume Canet, Marion turned to Instagram in September to address the claims that she was somehow involved in Brad’s and Angelina’s divorce drama, noted E News.

“This crafted conversation isn’t distressing. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery,” she wrote. “Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.”

Like his co-star, Pitt also has been making appearances and doing interviews for their movie Allied. At the Shanghai, China, debut, Brad took the time to sign autographs and pose for selfies, reported People.

During the Los Angeles debut, Pitt expressed his appreciation to fans.

“Everyone has been really kind out here. It’s really nice to have all the support.”

In a post-screening question and answer session, co-stars Brad and Marion along with director Robert Zemeckis discussed their film, which the Hollywood Reporter described as “about a Canadian Intelligence officer who, during the second World War, encounters a French Resistance fighter in Morocco and falls in love, only to have the relationship tested once they attempt to build a life together during the height of the war.”

Cotillard revealed that although she never indulged in “princess dreams” when she was young, she yearned to become an actress because of the glamor of that era. Admitting that she was a fan of Audrey Hepburn and Greta Garbo, Marion declared that she feels she achieved her true “princess dream” by acting in Allied.

“To be part of such a beautiful, strong, deep and yet glamorous movie, that’s my princess dream.”

The director commented that they used digital tools that helped to create a tribute to that era, while Pitt shared that the tools used, such as ones where he and Cotillard seem to be in a vehicle that is moving, provided “a really fun experience for us.”

Cotillard has admitted that there are some parallels in the romantic thriller that she filmed with Pitt and the movie in which he co-starred with Jolie. Marion discussed the similar aspects of her film with Brad, Allied, and his movie with Angelina, 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith in a recent interview, reported ET.

Although the plots are comparable (two spies meet and fall in love), Cotillard clarified that while the movie that Pitt made with Jolie is “really a comedy,” the film that she and Brad created is more solemn.

“This one is very entertaining but at the same time, there is a very profound questioning about love, about trust — and the movie is very moving,” emphasized Marion. “It’s very emotional. But yes, there are common points between the stories, because it’s two spies who meet on a mission.”

Talking to ET about their on-screen chemistry, Cotillard noted that achieving magic during filming isn’t always as simple as it might seem.

“Sometimes, you have nothing in common, no chemistry, and it still works on screen,” revealed Marion. “We had this chance to have this period of time to get along together, so it helps.”

As for the love scenes in which she participated with Pitt, Marion admitted that they were somewhat “awkward,” noted Hollywood Life.

“It’s an awkward situation,” confessed the candid actress. “We laughed because… this is so weird… And then we go into this, and then I’m going on top of you, and then we are going to kiss.”

But Cotillard also emphasized her admiration for Brad, sharing that he made a “commitment to do the best he could, which was really, really impressive.”
