‘The Walking Dead,’ Season 7 Episode 5: Hilltop Is Finally Revisited, Plus People Are Leaving Alexandria

Since Season 7 of AMC’s The Walking Dead premiered, little has been seen of Maggie and Sasha, the partners of those Negan killed in the Season 7 premiere. Episode 5 will rectify that, it seems.

Spoiler alert: This article discusses Season 7 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

The official synopsis for Episode 5 (entitled “Go Getters”) is below.

“Members of our group go to Hilltop.”

The Season 7 premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead saw two characters horrifically killed at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). While viewers have gotten to see how Rosita (Christian Serratos) dealt with the death of Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), nothing has been seen of either Maggie (Lauren Cohan) or Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). Episode 5 of The Walking Dead‘s seventh season seems set to fix that with one of the preview videos showing Maggie waking up at Hilltop. You can view the video below.

While Maggie is alive, it seems Hilltop is not impressed with her group. The leader of Hilltop, Gregory (Xander Berkeley), is seen complaining that Rick’s group has done nothing but put Hilltop at risk rather than dealing with Negan’s group like they said they would. Also, it needs to be noted that Maggie is not confirmed at Hilltop in this teaser for Episode 5. But, considering she and Sasha said they were headed there in Episode 1 of Season 7, and Sasha is seen there in the clip with Jesus, it is assumed Maggie is now at Hilltop.

During Episode 5 of The Walking Dead Season 7, Hilltop also gets a visit from Negan’s group. Simon (Steven Ogg) has been tasked with the visit and he promptly tells Gregory that they “need to talk.” While it is unclear what their little chat will be about, it seems likely Rick’s group will crop up in the conversation at some point.

Also, the conversation could take place outside of Hilltop, with Simon turning Gregory around and heading to the front door with him. The next shot in the Episode 5 teaser shows the Saviors convoy getting ready to drive out of Hilltop, indicating perhaps Gregory is taken away with them. This could get interesting if the Saviors take Gregory back to their compound and he meets up with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) while he is there. Although, Fansided predicts Gregory could die in Episode 5 of The Walking Dead on account of his little talk with Simon.

Outside of Hilltop, Episode 5 will also delve into Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Enid’s (Katelyn Nacon) relationship. Enid is seen climbing up the wall and out of Alexandria while Carl tells her that he is not going to save her any more. It is unclear if Carl plans to stop helping Enid because he has given up on her staying in Alexandria, or if he will plan to join her and escape Alexandria and his father.

The second teaser video for Episode 5 of The Walking Dead shows Carl and Michonne (Danai Gurira) discussing Rick’s decision to cower under Negan. This clip could indicate that Carl might leave when Enid does, as it is clear he does not think his father has made the right decision in regard to Negan.

Interesting to note in the above teaser for Episode 5, as the Independent points out, Carl questions Michonne as to why she didn’t go with Rick, indicating Rick has left Alexandria. So, where is Rick now, is it a temporary trip, and why did he leave? Only by tuning into Episode 5 of The Walking Dead Season 7 will reveal the answers.

Along with the above teaser videos for Episode 5 of The Walking Dead Season 7, AMC has released some official images for Episode 5. You can view them in the gallery below.
