Kate Upton Explodes On Twitter After Justin Verlander Doesn’t Win Cy Young

Kate Upton used to be one of the hottest names in the entertainment industry, but has been fairly quiet of late. She has been enjoying a relationship with Detroit Tigers superstar starting pitcher Justin Verlander and the couple has kept their business private.

Verlander was in the running for the AL Cy Young this season after a stellar performance for the Tigers. Many thought he would end up winning the award and he actually had more first place votes than any other pitcher. That being said, he didn’t end up winning the award, as Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Rick Porcello ended up winning the award.

Following the news that Porcello had beaten out Verlander, Upton took to Twitter to defend her man.

“Hey @MLB, I thought I was the only person allowed to fu** @JustinVerlander?! What 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballot?” Upton wrote on her Twitter account immediately following the news.

She didn’t stop there, continuing to post tweet after tweet disagreeing with the decision that was made.

Justin Verlander’s young brother, Ben Verlander, also took to his personal Twitter account to show his displeasure with the decision that was made.

Kate Upton may not be in the mainstream media anymore, but the reaction that she had to the AL Cy Young news began trending immediately. She even went out of her way to argue with fans that trolled her after seeing her anger on the subject. Leave it to Twitter to bring out the trolls.

Verlander was without question one of the best starting pitchers in baseball this season. His Detroit Tigers didn’t end up making the postseason, which could have been one of the reasons that Boston’s Porcello won the award over him. That may not be the case, but it seems likely that the success of the team as a whole had something to do with it.

Throughout the 2016 MLB season, Verlander ended up compiling a 16-9 record to go along with a 3.04 ERA and a 4.46 K/BB ratio. Those numbers are without question impressive, but they don’t match up with the season that Porcello had.

Porcello ended up with a 22-4 record to go along with a 3.15 ERA throughout the season. Purely from a record standpoint, Porcello was the obvious choice for the Cy Young award. Verlander was a deserving candidate as well, but his numbers simply didn’t quite match up with what Porcello had.

At 33-years-old, Verlander may be closing in on the end of his MLB career. He isn’t getting any younger and has shown signs of wear and tear over the past couple of years. Detroit obviously still thinks he has another season or two of solid baseball left in him, but he doesn’t have a ton of time left before retiring.

Kate Upton got engaged to Justin Verlander earlier in 2016 and Upton couldn’t have been more excited about it.

“I’m really excited, he asked me right before season started so we’ve been keeping it on the down-low for quite a while,” she told E! News exclusively. “So I’m excited to finally be able to share it with the world!”

No matter what the future holds for Justin Verlander, it is obvious that he has his No. 1 fan in Kate Upton. She was extremely passionate in her support for Verlander and that has to make him feel good. Even though Porcello likely looked like a better candidate from the start, Upton is making it clear that she thinks Major League Baseball got it wrong by not voting for her man.
