Bravo’s Andy Cohen Drops AIDS Bombshell In New Diary Book ‘Superficial’

Bravo’s Andy Cohen made a very honest admission about his sexual health in his new diary book Superficial. The Watch What Happens Live host opened up about a frightening AIDS test in his past.

Radar Online reported that Andy Cohen underwent an AIDS test back in 2014. The Bravo host admitted that he was completely fearful during the process.

“Twenty-five years after I came out of the closet, sitting in a doctor’s office waiting for the results of an AIDS test hasn’t gotten any easier. How can that be?”

Andy Cohen is currently dating a 28-year-old Brazillian student at Harvard named Clifton Dassuncao.

Cohen’s boyfriend worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Geological Survey in addition to his research at Harvard, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The Bravo executive wrote that he had practiced safe sex all his life, but he still couldn’t shake the “what if” terror he was feeling.

“Every scenario runs through my head and all roads lead to the inevitable moment where everything changes. That didn’t happen today, and I breathed yet another sigh of relief.”

The What What Happens Live host has supported AIDS research and prevention for a long time now.

In 2015, Cohen was honored by amfAR at a gala where he revealed that he had been “terrified’ during the AIDS epidemic when he was just moving to New York City back in 1990.

“I was a gay 22-year-old taking advantage of everything the city had to offer and I was always terrified. I was really terrified that I was going to get sick and die.”

Cohen wrote about the atmosphere in New York during the early 90s.

“Gay men everywhere were dying in droves. It seemed like a forgone conclusion. What’s different 25 years later is that we have powerful drugs that are keeping people alive, allowing people with HIV to live a relatively normal lifespan. But what hasn’t changed is that today, gay men are still disproportionately affected by HIV.”

At the beginning of this month, Andy Cohen and Padma Lakshmi spent a glamorous evening with Sir Elton John at his charity gala for AIDS.

According to Bravo, Cohen hosted the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 15th Annual An Enduring Vision Benefit.
