Jax Taylor Stands By His Story: ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Says Brittany Cartwright-Kristen Doute Hookup Story Is True

Jax Taylor is not backing down. The Vanderpump Rules veteran says the story circulating about his girlfriend Brittany Cartwright’s hookup with cast member Kristen Doute is true. Taylor told E! News that he’s not even mad about Brittany’s alleged tryst with the ex-SURver, but that he does have one issue with the night in question.

Brittany and Kristen are adamantly denying Jax’s story that he walked in on them and found them in a compromising position. Both women and Kristen’s boyfriend, Brian Carter, say Taylor embellished what was just a “drunk kiss.” Indeed, Jax Taylor is known for spreading lies while keeping a poker face, but he usually eventually comes clean. But in this case, Taylor is not backing down on his story.

Jax Told E! that he doesn’t care about Cartwright’s girl-on-girl action—as long as he can get a hold of her when he needs to.

“I could care less. She could hook up with all the girls she wants,” Taylor told E! “It doesn’t bother me.”

“It’s not the fact that she did that…I told her I’m fine with it. I think it was the fact that I came home at three in the morning and I was drunk and I was trying to call her and get a hold of her. That’s why initially I was so mad…I was more mad over that I couldn’t get a hold of her and I couldn’t get into my apartment because I left my keys in the house. That’s probably what I’m more mad about, and I just took it out on that.”

Taylor went on to question why anyone would doubt his story.

“For me to lie about this, that would make me look bad,” Jax said in the E! video. “Why would I make up such an absurd thing? How does this make me look good at all?”

Taylor maintained that he “walked in on something” and “whatever happened happened.”

Jax’s girlfriend has been vocal about her anger towards the SUR bartender. Cartwright, a former Hooters waitress, moved from Kentucky to live with Jax. The hookup rumor was spread by Jax just a few weeks after Brittany started waitressing at SUR. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Cartwright said she is having a hard time watching the drama play out on Vanderpump Rules Season 5.

“This has been hard for me to watch back,” Brittany told HuffPo.

“It’s something we already worked through at the time and now we’re in a really, really good place with our relationship. That rumor that Jax spread is 100 percent not true. You will see Jax stick by the story for a few episodes. I try to remember as I watch this that we got past all of it.”

While Taylor’s girlfriend is upset with him for spreading the rumor, she also said, “it wasn’t for a storyline.” So what was Jax Taylor’s motive?

Cartwright did throw Taylor a bone, saying he’s not really the pathological liar that viewers see on camera.

“I know he’ll say something and he’ll realize later he was an idiot,” Brittany said of Jax. “I know his pattern so well and I can just work with him. He has the biggest heart and he’ll really go above and beyond to make someone feel better! I see that and I really love that.”

Viewers are divided over Jax Taylor’s story. On one hand, Taylor is known for his tall tales, but on the other hand, why would he make up such a lie about the woman he loves? Even head honcho Lisa Vanderpump is confused. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the SUR owner said it’s a coin toss as to who to believe when it comes to this story.

“I can’t see the upside for him saying it happened if it didn’t,” Vanderpump said of Taylor. “However, put Brittany and put Jax in front of me – who am I going to believe? Brittany. I don’t know. You’ll see the way it plays out. Jax has no filter…I don’t think humiliation is in Jax Taylor’s vocabulary, quite honestly. I think that’s what makes for good reality television. I certainly know how to pick them!”
