‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 Release Date, Cast, And Spoilers: Eleven’s New Form Teased As Millie Bobby Brown’s Return Is Confirmed

The Stranger Things Season 2 release isn’t due until next year, but fans are already speculating on more detailed information about the second year of Netflix’s breakout hit series.

Rumors and speculations have been circulating online about when exactly Stranger Things will make its comeback, with some pointing out that it would be sometime in July 2017, per an iTech Post.

Furthermore, the outlet explained that the Stranger Things Season 2 release would be as monumental for Netflix as the show’s first season if only because of the most-awaited details about the show, which includes Eleven’s return.

During the first season of Stranger Things, we saw Eleven taking down the monster from the Upside Down, a.k.a. the Demogorgon, with her mental abilities even though she’s already drained after fending off the “bad men” from the Hawkins Lab.

Because of her state during the final battle with the Demogorgon, Eleven ends up disappearing with the monster, which led many of us to believe that she died with it.

Fortunately, the Duffer Brothers, a.k.a. the creators of Stranger Things, immediately left us clues pointing to Eleven’s return—sort of. In the final scene of the Season 1 finale, we see Hopper delivering food to someone in the woods via a secret compartment where we see Eggos—Eleven’s favorite snack.

David Harbour, the man who plays the police chief, confirmed to Mirror that the box in the forest where Hopper puts food in is proof of Eleven’s existence.

“He (Hopper) may understand that Eleven exists in some form. And so he’s got this box out in the woods where he gives her food.”

Furthermore, Stranger Things Season 2 release reportedly from unnamed sources explained that Millie Bobby Brown will be returning to the show per another Mirror report.

Fans were worried that her time with the hit Netflix series has ended due to showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer stating that the role is “up in the air.”

Other speculations about the show’s plot include Matthew Modine’s reprise as Papa, a.k.a. Dr. Martin Brenner of the Hawkins Lab, after surviving an attack from the Demogorgon during the show’s Season1 finale.

Aside from that, the Stranger Things Season 2 release is expected to wow the audience yet again with the possibility of Will Byers—the boy who was in the Upside Down for a week—still being affected by his experience.

“Will Byers was in that Upside Down for a while,” Stranger Things director Shawn Levy told Collider in an interview last week.

“So Season 2 is about this determined desire to return to normalcy in Hawkins, in the Byers family, in that group of friends, and it’s the struggle to reclaim normalcy and maybe the impossibility of it.”

During the interview, Levy also teased that while he cannot confirm the exact Stranger Things Season 2 release date, he revealed that the second year of the Netflix series will be one episode longer than the first one.

“It was promised when we announced that we were picked up for Season 2 and we gave those chapter headings, I believe it ended with ‘Coming in 2017’ and that much is true. You can do a little bit of math, we’re not magicians so there’s no way it launches in Spring since I just admitted we started filming today, and we’re doing nine.”

Asked whether Stranger Things Season 2 picks up immediately after the time the first season ended, Levy admitted that he is unsure about the exact timetable but confirmed that it won’t be right after the events of the Season 1 finale.

He also said that fans would want to stay tuned for the Stranger Things Season 2 release, especially because of upcoming new characters to be introduced in the show.

“And there are several new characters who I think several of them are going to be new fan-favorites because they’re great, great new characters.”
