Kylie Jenner has just revealed her secrets for taking the perfect selfie, but they may leave some wannabe Instagram stars scratching their heads.

Kylie Jenner gives other social media beauty gurus some serious Instagram envy by sharing flawless photos that often get over 2 million likes. In a video that she recently released on her website, the teen makeup queen decided to help her competition out by dishing out a little advice on how to take the perfect selfie.

“Watch me teach Khloe the basic rules I ALWAYS follow when taking Instagram photos or Snapchat videos. Trust me, they’re the keys to success!” Kylie wrote on her website, as reported by StyleCaster.

However, while sharing her selfie secrets with older sister Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner demonstrated that she doesn’t know the definition of the word “selfie.”

According to Merriam-Webster, a selfie is “a picture that you take of yourself especially by using the camera on your smartphone.” Using a mirror is a popular method to snap a full-body selfie, and you can hold your phone out away from you to take a photo of your face. However, according to Kylie Jenner, her best selfies aren’t selfies at all.

In her new video, Kylie Jenner tells Khloe Kardashian that she has an “Instagram manager” named Victoria who assists her. Kylie and Victoria believe that sunset lighting is best for photos, so they wait until 4:45 p.m. PT to head outside. Victoria is responsible for snapping pictures while Kylie poses, so the photos technically aren’t selfies.

Khloe Kardashian discovered that being Kylie Jenner’s Instagram manager is a time-intensive job. According to Us Weekly, Khloe was shocked when she saw the massive number of photos on Kylie’s iPhone. It seems as though the picky reality show princess only finds a handful of photos that she likes after sifting through Victoria’s work, and these end up on her Instagram page.

If you can’t afford to hire an Instagram manager to take your social media photos for you, don’t despair — Jenner has a few other helpful tips that can be used to take legit selfies. According to the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, it’s important to figure out what your best angle is (hers is her left side). After you’ve made this decision, tuck your hair behind your ear and tilt that side of your face toward the camera.

Kylie Jenner is also all about the lips, but duckface is so 2010. Kylie advises puckering them very subtly like you’re blowing a tiny kiss. Kylie also admits that she edits her favorite photos, but she says it’s important not to go overboard with the filters.

One of the best ways to limit the need for editing is by using the right beauty products to make your face look flawless, and Kylie is also a pro at makeup application. According to Glamour, she mixes Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation and Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done to create a smooth and even base. Kylie then sets her foundation with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder before applying NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer underneath her eyes, on her nose, and in the middle of her forehead. One of Kylie’s favorite makeup trick is to dampen her Beauty Blender sponge before using it to apply another layer of setting powder over the areas where she used concealer. She then sets the rest of her face with Chanel Mat Lumière powder.

Kylie Jenner’s lips are her moneymakers, and obviously, she’s going to encourage her fans to use her lip kits to create the perfect pout. However, the right lip prep is also important. According to Byrdie, Jenner gently exfoliates and moisturizes her lips with Mizzi Cosmetics Lip Luxe Whipped Lip Scrub.

Kylie’s eyelashes are also an important part of her look, and, much like her lips, they’re not all-natural. As reported by E!
