Is This The Most Shocking Justin Bieber And Selena Gomez Story Yet?

Wedding bells for Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber? That’s the latest “Jelena” news coming out of the black hole of never-ending nuttiness, otherwise known as the entertainment news cycle.

Suffice it to say, fans of either star are already aware that In Touch magazine’s “Secret Jelena Wedding” claim is bogus because — common sense.

But for those laboring under the illusion that tabloids report the truth and respect readers’ intelligence, rumor-busting site Gossip Cop has definitively confirmed Bieber and Gomez won’t be waltzing to church anytime soon.

Gossip Cop reports, “Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are NOT getting married, despite a report from the tabloids about a ‘secret wedding.”

The site pulled no punches dismissing the claim as “completely fabricated”, adding that “the marriage and ‘secret wedding’ claims are tabloid fantasy, and aren’t worth an ounce of belief.”

It’s worth reiterating that Gossip Cop didn’t just say In Touch’s “Jelena” marriage claim was wrong or inaccurate. They said the story is “completely fabricated.”

The reality that a significant percentage of gossip websites and tabloids publish false stories purporting to be legitimate news may come as a shock to some readers. Yet, it happens daily.

Since In Touch’s imminent Bieber-Gomez wedding claim has been debunked, readers can disregard the following statements in the magazine’s article.

“Justin reached out to Selena a few weeks ago while she was in rehab,” a source said.

“She was surprised to hear from him, but soon they were talking all the time.”

The tabloid added, “the two are moving quickly with their relationship — both literally and figuratively.”

“Justin suggested moving away from LA, and the source says, ‘Selena was all for it — as long as Justin proposes,'” In Touch wrote.

“Despite not having her family’s blessing for the nuptials, Sel is ready to move forward with the union.”

“Selena will get married in private, just to show them she doesn’t need their approval,” a source promised.

To be clear: All of the above “source” claims are fabricated. Given that In Touch has a proven history of frequently reporting fake stories, it is hard to believe that the magazine was unaware that the Gomez-Bieber wedding story was fabricated.

There’s more of where that came from. Celeb Now magazine’s recent claim that Bieber is supposedly paying for Gomez’s lupus-related time-out in a Nashville, Tennessee rehab was subsequently publicly ripped by a Gomez insider as “untrue.”

Likewise, ITech Post’s unbelievable claim that Bieber slipped away unnoticed from his “Purpose World Tour” to visit Gomez in rehab is also the stuff of fiction.

The prevailing theme of these false stories is that Bieber is somehow partly to “blame” for Gomez’s rehab stay.

This is despite Gomez’s team announcing in August that the starlet would be canceling her Revival Tour and entering rehab due to lupus-caused anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.

At the time, Gomez stated, “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

The actress-singer’s rehab retreat is also said to have been prompted by the murder of her friend, The Voice US contestant Christina Grimmie, 22, who was shot dead by a stalker during a meet-and-greet at a show in Orlando, Florida in June this year.

There are also lingering rumors since Gomez’s first rehab stint in January 2014 and her current retreat are the result of her long-standing drug addiction.

Yet, gossip sites, tabloids, and blogs are evidently keen to drag the Biebs into his former girlfriend’s issues even though they were last officially a couple over two years ago.

One of the most transparent examples of this is the media’s coverage of the pair’s Instagram feud in August, which mostly ignored the fact that no one asked Gomez to add fuel to an already tense situation.

Most of that reporting downplayed Gomez’s subsequent shade-spree, in which she spent hours “liking” a slew of fan-posted Instagram anti-Bieber memes. Some of these even referenced the heartthrob’s then relationship with Richie. Additionally, there was little press mention about Gomez previously threatening to delete her Instagram account earlier this year after drama from fans.

It would take a heroic effort not to see the gossip media’s deliberate attempts to lay Gomez’s lupus-related rehab stay on the Biebs. Selena’s camp stated very clearly that lupus-related mental health issues are behind her tour cancellation. Even if she was affected by her Instagram snafu, it was clearly Gomez’s choice to join the fray.

What have we learned? Gomez and Bieber are not getting married. There has been no visit between the pair at the Disney alum’s rehab facility, and the Biebs isn’t paying for her treatment.

Most importantly, Jelena hasn’t been a “thing” for over two years. It’s surely about time that everyone — including media outlets and fans — moves on.
