Bob Guiney Of ‘The Bachelor’ Ties The Knot For The Third Time

Bob Guiney is a married man, but it’s not the first time he has taken a walk down the aisle. The 45-year-old Bachelor veteran tied the knot with longtime love Jessica Canyon over the weekend in a destination wedding in Punta Mita, Mexico, according to E! News. Canyon is Guiney’s third wife, but The Bachelor star says the third time is the charm.

Bob Guiney first appeared on Season 1 of The Bachelorette as one of Trista Rehn’s suitors. Things didn’t work out between the two (she married her final pick, Ryan Sutter), but Bob quickly became a fan favorite. Guiney made his return to reality TV as the star of The Bachelor Season 4 back in 2003, and these days he’s a regular on the Today Show’s fourth hour where he heads the “Guys Tell All” segment.

Last October, Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford introduced the “still-divorced” Guiney as a panelist on their show when he dropped the bomb, “I gotta tell you, I’m actually engaged now.”

The Today Show hosts were stunned by Guiney’s revelation that he had popped the question on Labor Day 2015 and they joked that his days as a Today guest could be numbered now.

“I’ve gotten engaged a lot,” Guiney admitted to the morning show hosts, before saying he likes the “trial and error” approach to marriage.

“I suggest you get married as many times as humanly possible. And then sooner or later, you’ll find the one. It’s just a process of elimination,” Bob said.

Guiney, who famously broke things off with his final Bachelor pick, Estella Gardinier, shortly after that season’s finale aired, is a legend in Bachelor Nation. In fact, in 2010, on the 20/20 special, The Bachelor: The Secrets Behind the Rose, executive producer Mike Fleiss called out Guiney for being the most “active” alum of the ABC reality franchise.

“I think the average is that the guy will end up having sex with about three women during the course of the show,” Fleiss said of The Bachelor veterans. At the time, Fleiss said Guiney held the record for “highest batting average” in the show’s history. “I think it was five and a half,” Fleiss joked of Bob.

Of course, Guiney may have some competition for that record thanks to current Bachelor star Nick Viall, who’s just wrapping up his fourth go-around on the ABC franchise.

Bob Guiney was first married to college girlfriend Jennifer Lantz and later to All My Children actress Rebecca Budig, whom he met when she hosted a Bachelor recap show. Guiney and Budig married in 2004, but they divorced in 2010.As for his new wife, Guiney told People he thinks he finally found a keeper.

“Third time’s the charm!” Bob told the magazine.

Guiney revealed that his first marriage failed because he was “too young” at the time. According to the New York Post, Lantz was Guiney’s college sweetheart at Michigan State University, and they were married for two-and-a-half years. His ex-wife previously said she had a hard time watching Bob on The Bachelor, but said she wished him well.

And while his romantic relationship with soap star Rebecca Budig didn’t last, Guiney said they are still close friends.

“We are still friends to this day,” Bob said of his ex-wife. “When your relationship doesn’t necessarily go the way you want it to, you can still maintain a friendship.”

Bob Guiney and his third wife plan to honeymoon at Palace Resorts’ Moon Palace Jamaica Grande early next year.
