New ‘The Flash’ Episode Spoilers: Barry Finally Tells Everyone About Alternate Reality Wally As Kid Flash

In the new The Flash episode airing on November 15, it seems that things are coming to a head about Wally West’s other life as Kid Flash in the alternate reality created by Flashpoint. In the promo video The CW released for the episode, entitled “Shade,” it looks like Doctor Alchemy is beginning to manipulate Wally, with shocking consequences.

We already knew from previous episodes that the character of Doctor Alchemy was able to identify people who were metahumans in the Flashpoint universe – described by ScreenCrush – created by Barry when he went back to save his mother. Doctor Alchemy is also using his somewhat vague abilities to mess with people’s dreams and – eventually – to give them their powers back.

When Caitlin Snow started showing evidence over the last few episodes of turning into Killer Frost – or perhaps Friendly Frost, who knows? – it left many viewers suspecting that like other metahumans from the alternate reality who had been transformed by Doctor Alchemy into their alternate self, the same thing might be happening to Caitlin.

And that still might be the case, since the last aired episode had her freezing her computer – not to mention her entire desk. But it seems as though in this new The Flash episode we might be shifting from the Killer Frost subplot to learn more about Wally West and Kid Flash.

As reported by EconoTimes, the promo video starts out with Wally on the floor screaming in pain, apparently because of the flashback memories and dreams he’s having of being Kid Flash in the Flashpoint reality. We see Barry wallowing in his usual guilt and existential angst, blaming himself for Wally’s situation.

Eventually, the crew decides to put Wally in one of the containment cells where they normally keep criminals and dangerous metahumans. It’s not entirely clear in the video whether he was put in the cell to protect him from Doctor Alchemy, or to protect everyone else from Wally.

A scene just after this shows Wally in a physical confrontation with Iris, which might suggest he escaped from the cell and became violent. On the other hand, teaser videos like this – whether it’s for television episodes or movies – often mix up the sequence of events so as to fool viewers about what’s going to happen.

So it could be the fight with Iris happened before he went in the containment cell, rather than afterward. In that case, it probably would mean he was put in there to keep everyone else safe. Based on what Joe said in one of the scenes, it seems as though Wally might be manifesting his speed powers.

That would certainly make him fairly dangerous if he was also going nuts because of Doctor Alchemy tinkering with his brain. This actually makes for a fascinating plot possibility for this third season of The Flash.

It would be awesome if the entire Killer Frost/Caitlin subplot – in which we were intended to think that she was going to become a villain just like her Earth 2 counterpart – turned out to be nothing but a red herring. How would fans react if instead of Caitlin turning bad, we had a few episodes of Wally going over to the dark side.

Of course, Wally would only do this because of Doctor Alchemy’s mind tricks – and almost certainly team Flash would get him back to normal in a few episodes – but it would still make for an interesting twist that no one would have expected.

And as we learned from the reveals last year about Zoom and the Man in the Iron Mask, there’s nothing the producers of The Flash like more than a plot twist that leaves the viewers reeling. Whether they’ll do this or not remains to be seen.
