Luke Perry Talks ‘Riverdale’ And Shannen Doherty At RewindCon
Luke Perry was a huge teen heartthrob two decades ago. He played one of the lead roles on Beverly Hills, 90210 and will forever be immortalized as Dylan McKay. The show resonated with fans of all ages while it was airing and two decades later, some of the original cast members have reunited for a pop culture dream come true. Perry joined fellow co-stars for a celebrity panel at RewindCon in Bloomingdale, Illinois over the weekend. People from all over the world flew in for this event, and Perry and the rest of the cast were everything fans could have wanted and more.
The Beverly Hills, 90210 panel was pretty much run by Luke Perry, with interaction from others at the appropriate times. He did most of the talking, which was the lead into a beautiful tribute to his former co-star, Shannen Doherty. The two played love interests in the beginning of the show, and Brenda Walsh and Dylan McKay are still one of the favorite couples today. According to US Weekly, Luke Perry gave a touching tribute to Shannen Doherty. She was not able to attend the event and is currently battling for her life against breast cancer. He expressed his support for her and went on to explain how she was important to him. Perry and Doherty had their ups and downs, but his remarkable words for her touched both fans and his fellow actors.
It was a huge event and with Luke Perry and the entire Beverly Hills, 90210 cast at RewindCon in Bloomingdale, Illinois, the fans were blown away. The panel itself was hosted by two women from Hollywood Life, and they did an amazing job engaging the audience. Fans came from all over the world to catch a glimpse of the cast. While there were a few notable people missing, this was the first time in over two decades these actors were all in one room together. Perry was very candid with his remarks and the entire room was completely silent as each cast member spoke.
Fans who attended RewindCon could opt to take several photos which included packages with Luke Perry and other members of the Beverly Hills, 90210 cast members. As the actors spoke, fans listened intently to some of their favorite moments of the show. Audience members were given the chance to ask the panel questions and Perry and the other actors were excited to hear from their dedicated fans. Some of the moments shared during this special reunion will be held in fan’s hearts forever. The room was packed with eager fans and Perry and his co-stars were very gracious.
Some information about projects the cast members were working on came out. Luke Perry plugged his new show, Riverdale which will be airing this winter on the CW network. He will be playing a father figure which is starkly different from the Dylan McKay character fans knew and loved on Beverly Hills, 90210. There are high hopes for the new show, especially with the fan base that will be following him into it. Because it based on Archie Comics, the anticipation for it is high surrounding the character’s 75th anniversary.
Being able to see Luke Perry and the rest of the Beverly Hills, 90210 cast was a dream come true for fans. After over two decades the big reunion in Illinois was something fans have been anticipating for what seemed like an eternity. RewindCon was able to bring Perry and the others to a stage where they could directly interact with their fans. From photo ops to touching stories like what he said about Shannen Doherty, Luke Perry was both friendly and genuine with everyone he encountered.
