In Video Clips, Duggar Family Foreshadows Next Season Of ‘Counting On’

Though some viewers may have expected the Duggar family to be driven off the air by scandals, lost advertisers, and fan complaints about flashbacks replaying the same material, as the second full season of Counting On closes, there are hints that there are plans for the next season.

Check out foreshadowing in recent videos, some released by TLC

First, there are the many videos in which the other Duggar siblings congratulate Jinger and her new husband Jeremy on their marriage. There are quite a few of these, even after combining siblings into groups for some. However, one stands out.

Congratulating her younger sister, Jessa Seewald speaks of the honeymoon destination Jinger Duggar Vuolo is headed for.

“I know it’s gonna be a beautiful destination. They’re not giving out too many details, but we’re catching on.”

A surprise honeymoon destination that can be revealed neither to siblings nor viewers? That sounds like a season premiere, especially since the fourth televised Duggar wedding has been promised for this season’s finale.

With Duggar siblings also bemoaning that their beloved sister will be moving, we may be seeing a foreshadowing of episodes following Jinger as she moves into a new home in Texas.

Then there’s Jill and Derick Dillard, the missionary couple of the Duggar family. They returned from Central America recently, with TLC releasing a video citing their fears of dangers in the missions field.

The video, combined with Jinger Duggar’s courtship — which was expected to result in a wedding before year’s end, though the date wasn’t made public until it was leaked on social media a week before it took place — and the possibility of a pregnancy for Jill, which could be dangerous in high-risk areas for Zika virus, led to the notion that perhaps Jill and Derick would stick around in Arkansas with the rest of the Duggar family, instead.

With the season closing, though, these seem to be diminishing factors: Jinger’s wedding is over and Jill isn’t pregnant.

As for the dangers in Central America, TLC has released a new video, rolling the previous footage about Jill and Derick’s fears, into it. In this clip, Jill, Derick, Ben, and Jessa Seewald, along with Jinger, Joy, and Jana Duggar, speak to the cameras, discussing these dangers. Are fears for their safety and the safety of their toddler enough to turn the Duggar family missionary team from their task?

Derick lets us know, about two and a half minutes into the video, why he’s willing to take his family back to a place he says is dangerous.

“We’re willing to take that risk because of what’s at stake. We want to help these people.”

He also explains that the dangers he describes are a daily reality for the locals, and that living with those risks himself, with his family, makes him “…better able to relate to the people we are serving.”

All of this — plus Derick’s emphasis when he tells a member of the TLC crew, “It’s good to be back for a while,” certainly sound like a promise that the couple still plans to leave the comfort of the Duggar home and return to their own home in Central America.

While Jill isn’t pregnant, another Duggar sibling is: Jessa Seewald announced this season that she would be adding to her family in February.

Official Duggar family accounts have also been sharing more photos of Jana Duggar doing home repairs.

So — a surprise honeymoon, Jinger’s move to Texas, Jill and Derick’s return to Central America, Jana doing renovations, the seventh Duggar grandbaby on his or her way, and the long list of courtships that have been teased, sounds like a full season. There’s no official announcement yet, but the Duggar family appears to be ready to launch Season 3 of Counting On.
