Lamar Odom Focuses On Recovery After Divorce, Father Blames Khloe Kardashian
Lamar Odom celebrated his 37th birthday last week and reports suggest that the former NBA star avoided any drugs or alcohol. Khloe Kardashian is currently dating Tristan Thompson, and they recently announced their plans to finalize his divorce.
Despite his successful career as an NBA star for the LA Lakers, Lamar attracted a different form of media attention when he started dating Khloe Kardashian. The couple married in 2009 after dating for 30 days, and they both appeared in Keeping Up With the Kardashians and their own spinoff show Khloe & Lamar.

Many fans of the basketball star blame Khloe Kardashian for his demise, while others suggest that the extra media attention distracted Lamar. Last year, Lamar Odom almost died when he had a near fatal overdose in a Nevada brothel. Odom miraculously survived the incident and Khloe decided to delay the divorce so that she can help make medical decision that could potentially save his life.
Over the last 12 months, many reports suggest that Lamar has relapsed with alcohol, and Khloe spoke about his inconsistent behavior in Keeping Up With the Kardashians when the former NBA star revealed that he is interested in getting back into basketball.

Lamar Odom’s father told Radar Online that he is happy that his son is divorcing Khloe. Odom’s father Joe appeared on their reality TV show Khloe & Lamar and has suffered from drug addiction in the past.
“She was a piece of work, man,” Joe complained to Radar. “Khloe was no good for him and he’s better off without her! Lamar’s life and his career went downhill as soon as he got involved with her. His career suffered as a result and he lost some good years,” continued Joe. “He just didn’t need all that. She stopped his job.”
Lamar’s father revealed that his son did not mention his impending divorce when he spoke to him on the phone. Joe also stated that his son is a private person and he found out about the divorce on the news. Joe also accused Khloe of controlling Lamar’s finances.
“Times have been tough in the last year and it’s all down to Khloe,” Joe sniped. “I’ve struggled big time and Lamar wasn’t able to help because Khloe controlled all his money.”

When Joe appeared on their reality TV show, it was revealed that Lamar Odom’s mother died when he was young and he father struggled with drug abuse, which affected their relationship.
Lamar Odom has been spotted in many gyms with his personal trainer over the last few months. It is unclear whether the NBA star wants to get back to competing professionally or just get back in good health.
According to People magazine, Lamar Odom is avoiding any negativity in his life that could be affecting his recovery. His birthday party was a sign of good things to come as the star reportedly avoided any drugs or alcohol.
“He’s away from the negative influences in New York,” says the source. “Everyone who knows and loves him just wants him to get back to his old self, but that will still take some time. He’s been through a lot and he’s still working on himself.”

Lamar Odom has been avoiding the spotlight and has only been spotted at a few Kanye West concerts. Mr. West is one of Lamar’s biggest supporters and has reportedly helped the NBA star’s recovery from his near fatal overdose. The publication also reports that Lamar is well-liked among his peers and many people want to see him get back to his old self.
“He knows he needs to be in a good place to stay healthy,” said the insider. “A lot of what happened last year is a blur for Lamar but he knows he almost didn’t make it. There are so many people still rooting for Lamar — he’s a good guy. But it’s been very hard for him to keep his demons in check. He’s had a hard life.”
