Watch Nigeria Vs. Algeria Football Live Online: Start Time, Streaming Video Links For Saturday’s World Cup Qualifying Match

Fans can watch the Nigeria vs. Algeria football match live online and see which of the longtime rivals can move a step closer to qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The teams will meet Saturday at Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo, with start time scheduled for 5 p.m. local time (4 p.m. GMT/11 a.m. ET). The match can be seen on a number of international television outlets and will also be broadcast online for those unable to make it to a television (a link to the streaming video can be found below).

Those who watch the Nigeria vs. Algeria football match live online could see a motivated John Mikel Obi back on the pitch for the Super Eagles. The team’s captain helped lead the Dream Team to a bronze medal at the Rio Olympics, but new Nigerian coach Gernot Rohr said he believes the Chelsea midfielder is being punished for his work leading Nigeria this summer.

Obi hasn’t seen any playing time this season for Chelsea, Rorh noted.

“There is a reason why Mikel is not playing for Chelsea right now and that reason is because he played for Nigeria at the Olympics,” he said (via the BBC).

That could lead to a more energized Obi on Saturday, looking to make the most of his first opportunity in weeks.

“I cannot punish a player who loves his country and shows that he loves the green jersey,” Rohr said. “He is here with us and he is fit and I hope he can play for 90 minutes against Algeria but if it is not possible, we shall see.”

Obi said his team is ready to take all three points and move a step closer to the 2018 World Cup, the Premium Times reported.

“We all know what this match means, why we have to give everything. Yes, we started the race well by winning in Zambia, but we have to approach this match even more seriously. The Algerians will come with determination and they will play hard, but we will play harder,” he said.

“The World Cup is the biggest stage; every player wants to be there. I am happy we have such a young and energetic team. I played at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 but there are many of these players who have never been to the World Cup. They want to be there.”

Nigeria will already have an advantage going into Saturday’s match against Algeria. The Super Eagles won their opening game against Zambia. Algeria drew in its first match against Cameroon.

Fans who watch the Nigeria vs. Algeria football match live online could see a Super Eagles team ready to burst out. The Nigerian team has been in something of a goal slump in recent matches, scoring just 14 goals in the last 13 matches. As ESPNFC noted, the Super Eagles have been filled with talented players — including Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses, Moses Simon, Odion Ighalo, and Brown Ideye — and are likely due to break out soon.

Despite the scoring troubles, Nigeria comes into Saturday’s match on a two-game winning streak.

Though Algeria and Nigeria have a rivalry that dates back decades, they have only met four times in the last 14 years, with Nigeria winning all four matches.
