Celebrate ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life’ At Festival Of The Four Seasons

Netflix is pulling out all the stops to advertise its upcoming Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life revival series: first the Luke’s Diner pop-up cafes, and now the Festival of the Four Seasons.

The Festival of the Four Seasons, which was announced today via On Location Vacations, will provide West Coast Gilmore Girls fans with the opportunity to celebrate Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life before it airs. The Festival of the Four Seasons will take place on the Los Angeles campus of the University of California. UCLA and Netflix teamed up to transform part of the campus “into a real-life Stars Hollow, [and] will include a town gazebo, Luke’s Diner, Taylor’s Olde Fashioned Soda Shoppe, Kim’s Antiques and much more.”

The poster for the Festival of the Four Seasons depicts many classic Gilmore Girls locations. The iconic gazebo, where (spoilers!) Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore got engaged, will also be making an appearance. Most interestingly, the poster advertises “appearances by real Stars Hollow citizens,” meaning there will be actors in character as Gilmore Girls characters.

It remains to be seen whether or not the “citizens” will be main characters of Gilmore Girls or auxiliary characters. Having Alexis Bledel or Lauren Graham show up to surprise some fans would certainly be great advertising for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Tickets to the Festival of the Four Seasons are free, and attendees can choose whether to go November 19 or November 20. The event organizers anticipate crowds and advise attendees to arrive early and plan to spend around 45 minutes inside the festival.

More information about the festival can be found at the official Stars Hollow website, which is packed with Gilmore Girls Easter eggs. The site advertises the Black & White & Read Bookshop movie night and features a directory section which lists beloved Gilmore Girls institutions like Al’s Pancake World (where no pancakes are served), the Dragonfly Inn, and Miss Patty’s School of Ballet.

Additionally, the site features an advertisement for a new segment called “Ask Kirk.” Kirk Gleeson, the Gilmore Girls village oddball, apparently runs an advice column now, and clicking the advertisement allows the viewer to send Kirk an email asking him for advice. Maybe Kirk, who has always been a jack-of-all-trades, has finally settled down on one profession: giving advice. If so, we could see him working on his column in the upcoming Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

According to the website, Kirk has one other job as well: webmaster. The front page of the official Stars Hollow website features a message from Kirk.

“Please excuse any outdated sections of our site as we (Kirk) misplaced the password in 2007. He just found it. We expect to have a fully updated site by November 25th, 2016. Please visit our Town Updates section for a full rundown of what our site has to offer.”

November 25 is the date that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres on Netflix, so it’s possible that the Stars Hollow website will feature new content to match.

The Stars Hollow website also shows that one thing definitely hasn’t changed in the time between Gilmore Girls and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life: Taylor Doose is still in charge. The website calls him the “leader and town selectman” who officiates any town meetings or events.

Lastly, the site also features fan artists’ images under the banner of “Local Artists.”
