‘Heartbroken’ Supporter Runs Into Hillary Clinton While Hiking In The Woods — See Photo

Hillary Clinton’s loss in the U.S. presidential election came as a shock to the world, and supporters of the former Democratic nominee each had their own way of coping with the heartbreak that ensued thereafter.

Margot Gerster of White Plains is one such supporter, and feeling devastated by the election results, the New York woman decided to distract herself for the meantime by hiking through the woods of Westchester County with her daughter and her dog.

Little did she expect that she’d run into Hillary Clinton herself on the hiking trail.

As reported by the Telegraph, Gerster took to Facebook Thursday to share her experience, writing that after “feeling so heartbroken since yesterday’s election,” she decided to walk off her disappointment by hiking in the woods.

She said that she decided to take her daughter and her dog to one of her favorite places in Chappaqua, New York, where Bill and Hillary Clinton live.

“We were the only ones there and it was so beautiful and relaxing,” she wrote.

Just when her hiking activity was about to end, she unexpectedly ran into Bill and Hillary Clinton.

“I heard a bit of rustling coming towards me and as I stepped into the clearing there she was, Hillary Clinton and Bill with their dogs doing exactly the same thing as I was,” Gerster wrote. “I got to hug her and talk to her and tell her that one of my most proudest moments as a mother was taking [my daughter] with me to vote for her.”

Hillary, grateful to Gerster for her words of support, exchanged “sweet pleasantries” with her and gave her a hug. To top it off, Clinton agreed to have her photo taken, with Bill himself offering to grab the camera to snap the photo.

“She hugged me and thanked me and we exchanged some sweet pleasantries and then I let them continue their walk,” she added. “Now, I’m not one for signs but I think I’ll definitely take this one. So proud.”

Margot Gerster’s photo marks Clinton’s first appearance since delivering her concession speech on Wednesday, in which she offered little girls words of encouragement, telling them to never doubt themselves in achieving their dreams.

“To all the little girls who are watching this: never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”

Gerster ended her post by putting in hashtags expressing support for Clinton: #iamstillwithher, #lovetrumpshate, #keepfighting, and #lightfollowsdarkness.

Her post has been shared on Facebook nearly 3,000 times and has received thousands of comments from users, many of whom sent their good wishes to the former presidential candidate.

This hiking encounter isn’t the first time Gerster met Hillary Clinton. A day before the actual day of the election, she shared a throwback photo of herself and Hillary. When a friend asked her when the photo was taken, she said that it was taken back in her high school years at a fundraiser her mom organized where Clinton was the guest of honor.

Hillary Clinton conceded the presidency to new President-elect Donald Trump. She stated in her concession speech that the Constitution requires a transfer of power, as reported by CNN.

“Last night, I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans,” Clinton said.

“Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead,” she said. “This is not the outcome that we wanted and we worked so hard for, and I am sorry that we did not win this election.”

Despite having gone through a grueling and contentious presidential campaign, Clinton looked dignified and composed when she delivered her concession speech.
