Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Update: New Security Patch And Android Nougat Beta Available

After rolling out to T-Mobile variants, the November security update is now starting to arrive for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units in Europe. Furthermore, Samsung has officially announced the Android Nougat beta program for its latest flag bearers.

According to Sam Mobile, the November security update is currently available for factory-unlocked models located in Italy. But those in other European regions need not worry as the firmware update is expected to roll out in other territories soon. The firmware update bumps the phone to software version U1BPJG.

However, since Over-the-Air or OTA rollouts are being released in stages, some owners of the 2016 flagship models residing in Europe will have to wait days or weeks for the new firmware to reach their devices. But it is definitely important to install the November security patch as soon as it becomes available, as it brings in fixes for a handful of vulnerabilities and exposures in the Android Operating System, according to the official Mobile Security Blog of Samsung. Moreover, the latest Security Maintenance Release made available for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge also includes 14 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items from the Galaxy maker itself to improve the customer’s confidence on the security of Samsung mobile devices.

Once the OTA update arrives, simply follow the onscreen prompts to immediately proceed with the firmware’s download and installation process. For those who couldn’t wait, there’s a way to manually check the availability of the November security update. Just go to your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge’s Settings menu, look for About Device and then tap Download Updates Manually.

As for other Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge news, the South Korean tech titan recently announced the Galaxy Beta Program where users in the U.S., U.K., and Korea will be able to get an Android Nougat beta firmware update to test. Samsung noted that Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners in China will be soon given access to the Android Nougat beta program as well. Via Samsung Newsroom, the tech titan shared the following.

“Throughout the Galaxy Beta Program period, users can get a feel for Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung’s latest UX, and can provide feedback on performance, reliability and usability. Users’ responses will in turn help Samsung develop reliable, high-performing software and provide an improved and optimized experience to all Galaxy users.”

To be able to apply and receive the Android Nougat beta update, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users need to have an active Samsung account. They can register by downloading first the Galaxy Beta Program app available in the Galaxy Apps store and the Samsung Members app. Take note though that the Android Nougat beta program is given to applicants on a first-come, first served basis. Also, certain Galaxy S7 models such as the Olympic Games Limited Edition and Injustice Edition are not part of the program.
