Selena Gomez is reportedly ready to get back to her career and is said to be planning to make an appearance at the upcoming 2016 American Music Awards.
Although Selena Gomez is currently treating symptoms of Lupus at a Tennessee rehab, a new report claims the 24-year-old singer is planning to return to the spotlight later this month.
“Selena [Gomez] wants her first appearance back in front of her fans to be special and so if she does decide to do the appearance at the 2016 American Music Awards, she will want to do it big with perhaps a dazzling performance or a major announcement,” a source told Hollywood Life on November 8.

Selena Gomez has been spending time at a treatment center outside of Nashville for the past several months and while she has remained silent on social media since canceling her Revival World Tour in August, she’s been photographed numerous times in the area. In fact, in October, Selena Gomez was seen enjoying a meal at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Alcoa, Tennessee where she was seen posing in photos and filming videos with fans and staff members at the eatery.
As for who else will be attending the 2016 American Music Awards, Selena Gomez will not be risking a reunion with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
“Selena Gomez is relieved that Justin has tour dates on the night of the 2016 American Music Awards,” the Hollywood Life source explained. “With Justin unlikely to make an appearance at the show there is less stress surrounding the event for Selena. Even though Selena will always love Justin, it does make things easier for her knowing her ex-boyfriend will likely not be there.”
Selena Gomez announced the end of her tour on August 30 with a statement to her fans.
“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez said to People Magazine in a statement. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”
“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” she continued. “Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”

Selena Gomez’s statement came just two weeks after the singer was involved in a public dispute with Bieber on his Instagram page. The outburst, which was extremely out of character for Gomez, came after Bieber threatened to make his account private due to his fans’ mean comments about Sofia Richie, whom he split from weeks later. That said, it was never confirmed whether or not Bieber’s fight with Selena Gomez held any weight when it came to her decision to take some time off from her career.
While Hollywood Life claims Selena Gomez will attend the 2016 American Music Awards, her team has not confirmed any such as thing. As for her future music, a Us Weekly report last month suggested she had not yet returned to the studio as she had previously planned.
“[Selena Gomez] was supposed to be recording, but she hasn’t told anyone when she’ll be back in studio,” a music industry source explained.
