Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie’s Custody Battle Isn’t Over, Couple Is Still Feuding Over Kids [Report]

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been involved in a seemingly messy custody battle since Jolie filed for divorce in September, but earlier this week, a rep claimed the former couple had finally settled their dispute.

In a statement, a rep for Brad Pitt’s wife claimed she and the 52-year-old actor came to an agreement for their children last week, which gave Jolie physical custody of their six kids while Pitt was granted visitation.

“We can confirm that childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago,” the rep said in a statement to People Magazine on November 8. “In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother’s custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father. This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children’s best interest.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married for two years but had been together for 12 at the time of their separation in September. During their relationship, which began on the set of 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Brad Pitt and his wife welcomed six children, three biologically and three through adoption.

“We are not in a position to discuss the details,” the statement continued. “We hope now that it is clear that the events which led to the dissolution filing involved minor children and their wellbeing, there will be understanding of the sensitivity of the family situation. We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time.”

Following the rep’s statement, sources close to the situation told People Magazine that the agreement referenced by Jolie’s rep was nothing more than an extension to the temporary agreement they made weeks ago. In addition, another source claimed the deal was not a permanent agreement and was simply an “independent step” that Brad Pitt and his wife agreed to while attempting to come to a permanent custody arrangement for their kids.

When the 41-year-old actress filed for divorce on September 19, she requested sole physical custody of their six children, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 15; Pax Jolie-Pitt, 12; Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 11; Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 10; and twins Knox Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 8. Meanwhile, in response to the documents, Brad Pitt filed a request in which he asked for joint physical and legal custody of the kids.

Another report by TMZ on November 7 also shot down the idea that Brad Pitt and his wife had settled their custody battle and said that Pitt continues to fight for joint custody and is “sharply contesting” Jolie’s request for full custody.

According to the outlet, the most recently agreed upon deal was made only to account for the time between now and when the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services closes their investigation against the actor.

“[Brad Pitt] and Angelina agreed she would have physical custody during the DCFS investigation and Brad would have visitation monitored by a therapist. That agreement was extended last week, but it is NOT a settlement. That will be handled by the family court judge,” the outlet explained to readers.

TMZ further explained that Brad Pitt just filed documents for joint custody on Friday of last week, so the idea that he and his wife reached a settlement last week simply makes no sense. As for the rest of the couple’s divorce, they are believed to have a prenuptial agreement which will make the division of their assets far more simple than the division of their kids.
