Jason Segel And Drew Pearce Sign On For ‘The Other F Word’ Comedy

Could Jason Segel be headlining a punk rock film? Word on the street, according to Deadline, is that the How I Met Your Mother star will be adding his musical and writing talents to his new adaptation of The Other F Word.

The project is being lifted off of the ground by Segel and Drew Pearce after a bidding war that Fox eventually won out on, and will aid in the adaptation of the film. The film, which is based off of Andrea Blaugrand Nevins’ documentary The Other F Word is said to be based on real-life punk rockers who are dealing with fatherhood and all the complications it brings. The tagline of the documentary reads, “sometimes a little anarchy…can be a life-changing experience.”

As Jason Segel grows as a writer/actor, it seems so does his personal life. When Segel first started getting attention post his television role on Freaks and Geeks, he came out with Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which was loosely based on his love life. This past Summer Segel released The Five-Year Engagement, which he starred and co-wrote with Nicholas Stoller. Now with a healthy and solid relationship with actress Michelle Williams, it seems all that doting on Williams’ daughter Matilda Ledger is starting a new creative spectrum of possibilities for Jason.

With How I Met Your Mother coming to a close, The Other F Word may just be Jason Segel’s first project after his series run on the popular show. Although it hasn’t been confirmed it looks like Segel and Pearce may take on producing roles in this film as well.

Do you think Jason Segel will be able to pull off a punk rocker?
