Scheana Shay: ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Separates From Her Husband Mike

Scheana Shay and her husband, Mike Shay, have decided to put their marriage on hold for an indefinite period of time. The Vanderpump Rules stars have agreed to separate for the immediate future, according to People. An insider told the magazine that Mike and Scheana Shay “will not be living together indefinitely” after an unusual turn of events took place in their personal life last week.

According to the People source, Mike Shay, a musician, left for band practice one night early last week and never returned home. After several days passed, Scheana cut off her husband’s credit card when he reportedly emptied their joint bank account. TMZ reported that Scheana was especially concerned because her husband took off right after they got news that a close family friend had died.

Scheana reportedly didn’t hear from her husband for six days, and when the couple did reunite over the weekend they agreed to live separately for the next few months in order to reevaluate their relationship. The source revealed that both Scheana and Mike plan to “focus on themselves” for the next few months and then reevaluate their situation early next year and see if their path is “still meant to be together.” The insider insists that there is no talk of divorce at this time.

Scheana Shay’s happy wedding day played out on Vanderpump Rules in 2014 (her engagement party was even hosted by LVP herself), but since that time, fans found out that her husband has been struggling with drinking and prescription drugs. While the People source claims that Mike Shay is not sober anymore and that his family has been covering for him, the musician set the record straight on social media, posting a photo of himself reading a current newspaper and declaring that he is not missing and that he is indeed still sober.

“I am not missing. I am sober. I am happy!” Shay wrote. “Don’t believe everything you read. I love my wife and will always love my wife. Whatever is going on between us will stay between us! I love my family and my family loves me and a lot of things have been said out is protection and anger by many people. [I’m] just ready for the next chapter in my life!”

Shay has said in the past that he has been sober since January 1 of this year, but his unusual disappearing act has no doubt given Scheana cause for concern.

But while much has been made of his MIA status, one of Mike Shay’s family members told Radar Online that he actually walked out on Scheana after they had a huge fight last week and that he has been staying with his parents and brother. The relative revealed that Shay has been “focusing on his family and his music.” The insider added that Mike did not drain the joint checking count he shares with Scheana, but that he simply withdrew cash in order to get by during their separation. Scheana Shay later shut down her husband’s access to all of their joint accounts and she went solo to the Vanderpump Rules premiere party.

As divorce rumors continue to swirl, Scheana Shay also posted to social media, saying she is “looking into the future.”

But the big question is, will it be a future with or without Mike Shay?
