Andy Cohen Admits He Was Hard On Kelly Dodd During ‘RHOC’ Reunion

Viewers may see host Andy Cohen ask Kelly Dodd some tough questions and perhaps give her some critical comments on The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 11 reunion show, Part 1 of which airs tonight. On Friday, Bravo posted the latest Ask Andy segment, during which his assistant, Daryn Carp, asks him viewer questions regarding the various Bravo shows and his other endeavors. One viewer, pointing out that Andy is usually very good about staying neutral and fair to all of the Real Housewives stars, asked Andy if there has ever been a time when he was close to telling a particular housewife that she’s wrong. Andy admitted that he was really tough on Kelly during her first reunion show.

“Oh that’s a good question. I was really tough on Kelly Dodd on the reunion. I don’t know how much they’ll show of my part but I felt like I was pretty tough on her.”

Daryn asked Andy if he actually told Kelly she was wrong about something or called her out. Andy admitted that he basically did tell Kelly she was wrong.

“I was calling, yeah, you have to watch it, but yeah, I was calling her out, yeah.”

A preview for the reunion show shows Andy at one point repeatedly telling Kelly to stop talking, possibly because she keeps interrupting another woman. What was Kelly so heated about? At one point, Kelly seems to accuse co-star Shannon Beador of trying to get her drunk during the cast’s Ireland vacation. At another point, Kelly tells someone else, perhaps either Shannon or Tamra Judge, that if they’re going to fight, then she, in turn, is going to fight dirty.

Another preview, however, shows Andy sticking up for Kelly. He tells Shannon that it does seem as if her two friends at her 70s-themed party, Nina and Jaci, who accused Kelly of performing sexual acts for money and implied that she’s a cheater, had it in for Kelly that night. When Shannon denied that she tried to set Kelly us, Andy didn’t let Shannon off easy, going so far as pointing out that even Tamra thought that Nina and Jaci were trying to bring Kelly down.

“It does seem like your friends were gunning for her right? Right from the beginning. But you do agree from watching them on the show that it seemed like they were gunning for her? Yes and you (Tamra) too? You see why it looked like you were egging things on?”

If the reunion show does indeed show Andy giving Kelly more of a hard time, there may be more accusations from viewers that Andy doesn’t treat her fairly. Some viewers actually accused Andy of knowingly taking part in, or at least allowing, a set up of Kelly to happen during her appearance on his talk show Watch What Happens Live last week. During the talk show, a viewer asked Kelly about her friendship with Vicki but then suddenly switched the question to ask Kelly about her affair with a man named Frank.

The question seemed to have really caught Andy by surprise, which was to be expected since there was no talk about Kelly having had an affair with Frank at any time during the Real Housewives season. Kelly, without missing a beat, quickly denied that she ever had an affair with Frank and then accused the caller of working with Tamra and Shannon in an attempt to take her down. Subsequent callers tried to ask Kelly about the supposed affair as well.

Did Andy have any knowledge of what was going to happen to Kelly? On social media and blogs, some questioned how the caller was able to get through to ask Kelly such a question. Others gave their opinion that Andy always goes easy on Tamra and Shannon when they’re on his show but makes it hard for Kelly when she’s on. They pointed out that for Kelly’s previous Watch What Happens Live appearance, the other guest was Flipping Out star Jenni Pulos, who is a good friend of Shannon’s. During that show, Jenni outright criticized Kelly for how she treated Shannon.

According to Andy, he played no part in any kind of set up against Kelly during her second Watch What Happens Live appearance. As the Inquisitr reported, right after that episode aired, Andy tweeted that the callers told the phone screener that they were going to ask other questions but then went rouge once on the air. He apologized for what happened. Kelly defended Andy, tweeting that it’s not right for viewers to blame Andy when Tamra Judge was behind it all.

At an earlier point on Ask Andy, Daryn also asked Andy about how filming for the reunion show went overall. Andy mentioned that viewers would see, like so many reunion shows, tears and a walk-off. As for whether viewers will see some of the women repair or end their friendships, Andy said that both happened.

“Crying. Walk-off. Um there were some people who really apologized and there was movement and then there were also, there were revelations, and also at the end there was kind of me feeling like, ‘Wow. They’ll never be friends again.'”

Perhaps Kelly Dodd did some apologizing or was apologized to? It certainly doesn’t seem as if viewers will see Shannon Beador and Vicki Gunvalson make any progress, for the preview at one point shows Shannon screaming at Vicki that she’s completely done with her.

“You are despicable. I will never, ever talk to you again!”

Despite all the tears and yelling, at least Andy Cohen got to ask what he wanted. Andy told his assistant during Ask Andy that he feels as if he got to cover all the topics he wanted to upon the conclusion of the reunion filming.
