Bette Midler Uses Donald Trump’s Phrase To Describe ‘Hocus Pocus 2’

Bette Midler may be 70-years-old, but it doesn’t mean she is not determined to make a sequel to Hocus Pocus, according to E! Online. Although it’s been over two decades since the release of the classic 1993 film, Midler is still wondering why there hasn’t been a sequel yet.

But make no mistake: Bette Midler would love to be a part of Hocus Pocus 2! In fact, the 70-year-old actress even revisited her character on Halloween. Midler was dressed as her iconic Hocus Pocus character, Winifred Sanderson, for a Halloween event.

And while Hocus Pocus fans think it was a signal that the sequel is already in the works, Bette Midler told Billboard that she would love to do Hocus Pocus 2.

“For the life of me, I can’t understand why there’s not a sequel.”

Bette Midler went on to say that there is a lack of “slapstick” in modern-era Hollywood film, while the actress reminded that in the original film the Sanderson sisters, played by Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, were “having a blast.”

Bette Midler even used one of the phrases commonly used by Presidential candidate Donald Trump, and said that when the camera stopped rolling, “all the shackles were off,” and the actresses were as “wild” as they wanted to be!

“It was a perfect storm of fun.”

Bette Midler is not the only Hocus Pocus cast or crew member who’s excited about a potential sequel to the 1993 film. Director Kenny Ortega recently took to Instagram to share snaps from the original film and asked fans if they would like to see another installment.

Even though Bette Midler is 70-years-old, the actress still has tons of energy. In October alone, Midler reissued her platinum-certified debut album; she was Blake Shelton’s mentor on The Voice, and she began rehearsals for the revival of Hello, Dolly!, according to Billboard.

And while Bette Midler keeps her schedule busy, she would surely find time for a potential Hocus Pocus sequel. In fact, the revival of Hello, Dolly! already broke Broadway’s single-day sales record by selling over $9 million in advance tickets.

Although the Broadway revival is scheduled for March, 2017, Hello, Dolly! fans are apparently already excited to see Bette Midler take over Barbra Streisand’s iconic role in the 1964 musical.

In her interview with Billboard, Bette Midler admitted she is having “a great time” working on the revival of the cult musical.

“I’ve gotten thin! Which I can’t believe happened. I’ve never had a part this big on Broadway.”

Bette Midler also admitted that she has learned “a little bit” of dancing. And even though the actress says she has danced all her life, she had never done choreography that requires you to synchronize your moves with about a dozen of other people.

“It’s a very steep learning curve. But I must say it’s great. I love to dance. Everyone should dance. The weight just falls right off you!”

Bette Midler also opened up that she was never going to appear on The Voice. But one “very well-known singer” changed her mind. She initially thought that she would never do The Voice because she had no idea to tell all those young people.

But that “very well-known singer” told Bette Midler that she didn’t have to tell them what notes to sing. Instead, all she had to do is to tell those kids what it means to be a performer.

Bette Midler was surprised when she first came on the show because the singer-turned-actress admits that people on The Voice have “some of the most beautiful voices” she has ever heard in public.

Bette Midler also went on to praise Blake Shelton, calling him a “hoot.” The actress added that if she were his agent, she would get him on a big screen ASAP.

“I think he probably can act. He’s so photogenic, like a John Wayne type.”
