Kailyn Lowry Opens Up About Rape: ‘My Sheets Stained With Blood, I Felt Like I Was Dead’

Kailyn Lowry has had an unusual childhood and she’s opened up about it on Teen Mom. Even when she was filming 16 & Pregnant, Kailyn revealed that she didn’t have a relationship with her mother and that it was very troubled. Fans never really heard much about her father, and they didn’t hear too much about her private life. Lowry merely shared her story about becoming a young mother. Even though she’s already written a few books, it sounds like her current book, Hustle & Heart, is the one where she’s candidly honest.

According to a new Radar Online report, Kailyn Lowry is now revealing that she was once raped. This was long before her Teen Mom fame and this guy really wanted to get together with Lowry. He showed up at her apartment and forced himself on her. In her book, Lowry gets candid about the rape, revealing that she was bleeding and she was screaming while he was raping her.

“A guy who’d been asking me out for a while showed up at my apartment plastered,” Kailyn Lowry reveals in her newest book, according to Bravo, adding, “He said he needed to talk to me. I let him in. He grabbed me, dragged me into the bedroom and forced me down.”

“I bled. I screamed,” Lowry reveals in her book, adding, “And when he left me, my body torn and my sheets stained with blood, I felt like I was dead.”

The rape was so bad that Kailyn Lowry was hospitalized. Even though she knew what had happened, she didn’t want the hospital to do a rape kit. Since this happened before 16 & Pregnant, this rape must have happened when she was very young. Lowry didn’t share whether he was her first, but this attack could influence how she handles herself in relationships in the future.

“The pain was unbearable. It was obvious what had happened to me. And yet I wouldn’t agree to a rape kit. I was shaken and afraid and overwhelmed by chaotic ideas of what would happen if I accused Caleb of rape. I couldn’t stand to think about the consequences,” Lowry points out in her book, naming the man who supposedly raped her.

Like many rape victims, Lowry blamed herself. Even though she wasn’t at fault for the rape, she had a hard time moving on from the experience. She had bled in her bed, she was hospitalized and she didn’t have a support system to help her move on.

“I blamed myself for what had happened,” Kailyn Lowry explains in her book, Hustle & Heart, according to Radar Online, adding, “I refrained from telling anyone. And even as it ate away at me, I tried to pretend it had never happened. I tried to escape into a reality in which I wasn’t a victim.”

If Kailyn Lowry were raped today, she would use her strong voice to silence her haters and speak out about the events. It almost seems as if Lowry regrets not speaking up, even though she was so young. Not many young people would have the strength to speak out, especially without a strong parental support system.

“If only I had stood up for myself, raised my voice and backed up my beliefs,” Kailyn points out, sharing, “If only I’d been living proof of the fact that no victim should live in shame. Then I could have turned what happened into a source of strength. I could be looking back now and feeling proud of myself.”

One has to wonder if her marriage to Javi Marroquin was affected by the rape, as they are now divorcing. Lowry hasn’t blamed her past issues on the divorce, but blamed Javi for not being there emotionally for her.
