Margo Prade, Doug Prade On ‘Fatal Attraction’: Did Ohio Captain Kill Prominent Black Doctor Found Dead In Bloody Lab Coat?

Dr. Margo Prade’s story is airing on the series Fatal Attraction on TV One tonight (November 7). Doctor Margo Prade’s story made headlines two decades ago after her dead body was found in her minivan, and her shooting death outraged friends and family members. Her estranged husband, Captain Doug Prade, was implicated and eventually convicted of her murder. However, he was released from prison in 2013 after DNA evidence excluded him as the killer.

On tonight’s Fatal Attraction, viewers will watch the case as it is re-enacted and told from the point of view of investigators and crime experts. Family members of Dr. Margo Prade are also expected to take part in the show.

Fatal Attraction: “Murder MD” on TV One

When a prominent African-American physician is found dead in her car from multiple gunshot wounds, her family and the community demand justice. The case is turned on its head after a bite mark impression leads to the arrest of a decorated military man.

Fatal Attraction’s coverage will start with the murder of Dr. Margo Prade, a beautiful 41-year-old black female doctor who was well-liked in her community. But someone took the good doctor’s life during the Thanksgiving holidays and left her dead on the front seat of her minivan.

Margo Prade’s body was found by a co-worker and friend who immediately dispatched police to the scene. When they arrived, they saw that Prade was slumped over in her seat. An autopsy conducted on Margo Prade showed that she had been shot six times at close range. Half of a bite mark was also found on her arm.

The investigation into her death stagnated until an anonymous letter arrived that pointed the finger at another black female, who was later ruled out. To investigators, it seemed that someone was trying to set the woman up to take the attention away from whoever had sent the letter, Fatal Attraction will point out.

The investigation heated up after a bite impression taken of Margo Prade’s family members ruled them all out — with the exception of her estranged husband, Capt. Doug Prade.

Doug Prade, a decorated captain, seemed like an unlikely suspect. But when his dentures seemed to be a match to the half bite mark that was found on the victim, he was arrested and charged with murder.

At trial, the defense tried to show that Doug Prade couldn’t have made the bite mark since his top denture was loose and unstable. However, this is exactly what convinced the jury that it was Doug Prade’s dentures that made the strange bite mark impression. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.

However, that sentence was thrown out, and Doug Prade was ordered released from prison after evidence proved that his DNA was not at the scene.

  • Dr. Margo Prade’s daughters, who were raised by their maternal grandmother, believe in their father’s innocence and love both sides of the family, Kenya Prade stated, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

“The hardest thing is that this has destroyed our family. My sister and I have been put in the middle of this, and we did nothing wrong. It’s just sad, because we love both sides of our family very much. There are some family members who make us seem like outcasts and don’t want anything to do with us because we are still communicating with our father.”

  • Margo Prade’s mother has since died.
  • Margo Prade’s sister is devastated by Doug Prade’s release and is still convinced that he is the killer.
  • When detectives found Dr. Prade dead, it was remarkable how much her blood-drenched lab coat matched her perfectly painted red nails, which were noticeable as her hand lay on the front seat.
  • According to the Daily Mail, Doug Prade, who spent 15 years in prison, always said that the only people who knew the truth were God, himself, the killer, and Margo.
  • The case was featured on HBO’s Autopsy.
