Real-Life ‘Walking Dead’ Zombie Apocalypse? New York And Los Angeles Wouldn’t Survive: See The Full List Of Cities

A recent study revealed that New York and Los Angeles made the list of worst cities to be in should a real-life Walking Dead-like zombie apocalypse occur. Where is your city on the list?

The study was conducted by CareerBuilder and compiled the labor market data from the largest metropolitan areas (cities with more than 1 million residents) and looked at the chances of survival based on defense, containment, cure, and food factors. The 53 cities were scored based on those four areas and the totals were tallied and put in order to generate a list of cities most (and least) likely to survive a Walking Dead-like zombie apocalypse.

Even though it’s hard to say what would happen should Walking Dead become a real life scenario, the study combined real-life science to an imaginary scenario that some people believe will eventually come true. Those that believe that the zombie apocalypse may become a reality one day can move to the cities that have the most chance of survival. Some of the most popular cities made the list of least likely to survive, which may surprise some residents.

You have the best chance of surviving a Walking Dead zombie apocalypse if you are in these 10 cities:

1. Boston, Massachusetts
2. Kansas City, Missouri
3. Salt Lake City, Utah
4. Baltimore, Maryland
5. San Diego, California
6. Seattle, Washington
7. Denver, Colorado
8. Virginia Beach, Virginia
9. Hartford, Connecticut
10. Minneapolis, Minnesota

And, unfortunately, you will likely not survive a zombie apocalypse if you are in these 10 cities:

1. Detroit, Michigan
2. Chicago, Illinois
3. Tucson, Arizona
4. Buffalo, New York
5. Atlanta, Georgia
6. Miami, Florida
7. Riverside, California

The fact is that a real life Walking Dead zombie apocalypse happening doesn’t feel possible to most people, and to others it just seems like one of those “of course it could happen” things. We actually won’t know if it’s possible until it actually happens, and then it’d be too late. Until then, we have speculation and scientific studies, such as this one that was done by CareerBuilder that gives us plenty of material for discussion and even preparation.

What do you think of this list of cities’ survival chances if the Walking Dead came to life? Would you try your best to get to Boston, which is the safest city, according to this list, or would you bunker down and get ready to fight? Sound off in the comments below what you think of this study and how you’d survive a zombie apocalypse.
