Pippa Middleton To Have ‘Modest’ Wedding, Duchess Kate Ready To Give Over Spotlight

Pippa Middleton and James Matthews are set to marry next spring, and new details about their planned nuptials have been made known. The younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge has decided to steer clear of a lavish and over-the-top ceremony and instead has set plans for a “low-key” affair in her hometown village’s church where there will be no more than 150 guests present. A “no frills” party at her parents’ house following the ceremony is also a part of the plans. Despite the intentions for a modest occasion, the nuptials of Kate’s younger sister are expected to be the “society wedding of the years,” as Forbes notes.

Pippa and her family are almost as famous as other royals, such as the Royal Windsors, seeing as Kate Middleton is married to Prince William, who is second in line to the British throne. Despite Kate’s common upbringing, she has become a cherished member of the royal family and now a woman who is admired around the world.

That all being stated, Pippa’s obvious desire for a small and quiet wedding that is planned for next May, will likely receive coverage globally. The beauty clearly would prefer details to be kept secret, yet they keep being made known to the media. As Vanity Fair relays, some such details include those about the designer wedding dress Pippa intends to wear, the guest list, as well as the role Duchess Kate will play in preparing for the ceremony and party for her younger sister, who became famous when she took on the role of maid of honor at the Royal Wedding in 2011.

It has been made clear that although Duchess Kate will be a part of assisting with the wedding planning and likely will play a small role, tshe and the Duke of Cambridge will be careful not to steal the spotlight from Pippa on her big day with James. Judy Wade, a veteran royal writer, wrote on the subject of the etiquette a royal must follow in such a circumstance.

“If your sister is a future Queen, she is going to upstage the bride and draw attention. Kate would want to be in the background as much as possible at the same time that Pippa would want her sister by her side, as who else would she trust to make things go well?”

Despite the rumors of a feud over the subject, Kate is reportedly completely understanding about how she must shrink into the background for the occasion. The sisters are less than two years apart and have a bond that has endured throughout the intense media attention, both favorable and unfavorable since Kate has become the Duchess.

Royal correspondent, Tom Sykes, spoke on the subject of Kate’s place in the wedding, as well.

“Another reason Kate won’t be a bridesmaid at Pippa’s wedding to City whiz-kid James Mathews, is very simple. British tradition dictates that bridesmaids should always be unmarried and should be younger than the bride; indeed, many aristocratic British brides have children as their bridesmaids.”

This rule that non-royals often do not follow, has likely been one which has saved sensitivity on the issue and make the feud rumors completely unlikely, and Sykes states that it “does neatly solve what could otherwise have been a sensitive problem for Pippa.”

It was certainly a moment to remember during the Royal Wedding when Pippa Middleton walked down the aisle in her designer figure-hugging dress that drew attention on a global scale to the sister of the Duchess. Since then, Pippa has remained a figure who constantly makes headlines and is under the watchful eye of royal onlookers and media members.
