Fifth Harmony Defends Little Mix, Drops Big Hints About A Duet

Fifth Harmony is speaking out in defense of their fellow girl band Little Mix as the duet rumors swirl.

The Fifth Harmony girls were recently asked about the backlash Little Mix faced after they were accused of dressing like “prostitutes” and “strippers” during a recent performance of “Shout Out To My Ex” on Britain’s The X Factor last month, where Fifth Harmony made it clear that they have Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s backs.

“It definitely makes me query as to where we are in the world right now,” Fifth Harmony star Normani Kordei hit back at the haters that accused Little Mix of being dressed inappropriately during their latest performance on the prime time show, which they won back in 2011.

Normani then went on to reveal in the interview with UK Official Charts that she and her Fifth Harmony bandmates are subjected to the same criticism Little Mix receive.

“We definitely do get [criticism] sometimes,” Kordei continued of Fifth Harmony. “I remember when the ‘Work From Home’ video came out and people had a bunch to say.”

“We’re women and we want to embrace that, so whatever makes us feel good,” the Fifth Harmony star continued of the slut shaming that seems to follow both girl bands. “If I want to wear shorts or a crop top, that doesn’t make necessarily a slut. It just means I’m confident in my body because I work really hard for it!” Normani added.

The Fifth Harmony girls then continued to praise Little Mix in the interview, despite past rumors of a rivalry between the two girl bands, after Ally Brooke Hernandez told UK Official Charts that she thinks the girls of Little Mix are “fabulous.”

“They sounded fabulous,” Ally said of Little Mix’s The X Factor performance of “Shout Out To My Ex,” adding, “they were fabulous, they are fabulous!”

Ally and Normani’s Fifth Harmony bandmate Dinah Jane Hansen also gushed over Little Mix on social media following their performance, tweeting out on October 16, “okaaaaay LM did that #ShoutoutToMyEx.”

Little Mix then replied with a sweet message of their own on the 140-character site, tweeting to Fifth Harmony in response, “ahh thank you beautiful! You guys always give us life.”

Fifth Harmony’s big Little Mix gush came just days after singer Perrie Edwards hinted that there could potentially be a huge girl band collaboration from both bands in the not too distant future.

Speaking out to Metro in September, Perrie was asked about the possibility of a Little Mix and Fifth Harmony duet hitting the airwaves in the not too distant future and hinted that a collaboration could potentially be in the cards for the two biggest girl bands on the planet right now.

“Yes! Imagine the sass,” Perrie told the British newspaper when asked if Little Mix would ever team up with Fifth Harmony for a duet, while Edwards’s bandmate, Jade Thirlwall, echoed Perrie’s enthusiasm.

“The hair whips would be off the scale,” Jade joked of a Fifth Harmony duet.

But it’s not just Little Mix who are speaking out about a duet, as Fifth Harmony’s Dinah Jane Hansen also teased a potential duet between the two former The X Factor bands in October, revealing in an interview that getting together with Little Mix would be “so fun.”

“We love Little Mix. That’d be so fun,” Dinah Jane said of Fifth Harmony releasing a duet with the British girl group. “Are they in town by any chance?”

Neither band has confirmed a duet is in the works, but it sounds like even the possibility of a girl band team up has got Fifth Harmony and Little Mix fans pretty excited across social media.

“Patiently waiting for a [Fifth Harmony] and Little Mix collab,” Twitter user @xst3venx tweeted of the rumored duet, while Fifth Harmony fan @Lauren_Camila14 wrote, “why won’t [Fifth Harmony] and Little Mix have a collab already please.”
