Xbox Live Gold’s Free & Discounted Games This Week Include ‘Borderlands,’ ‘FIFA 17,’ ‘Super Dungeon Bros’ And More

A new set of free games for Xbox Live Gold members arrived earlier this week. Also, the latest Deals with Gold promotion are offering discounted Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and more.

November opened with two free games for the active members of Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold program. Owners of the Xbox 360 or the Xbox One eligible for the Games With Gold promotion will be able to take advantage of the free titles. For instance, Xbox One users were offered a free copy of Super Dungeon Bros,” which is a fast paced, action focused, rock-themed dungeon brawler, as described on the game’s page on Microsoft.

A Super Dungeon Bros review from GearNuke noted that the co-op gameplay is one of the positive sides of the game regularly priced at $20.

Super Dungeon Bros is at its core a co-op experience, with both couch and online co-op available, and that is the best way to play it even though the game can be played solo. Fighting together, throwing each other into enemies or off of ledges is highly enjoyable and perhaps the best aspect of the game.”

The review also shared a few of the negative aspects of the game, including the combat, which was described in the post as “nothing exemplary or even particularly good, but serviceable.”

GearNuke also cited issues with finding a match online. As a conclusion, Huzaifah Durrani’s review of the game noted the following.

“I’m not trying to say that Super Dungeon Bros is a bad game. It’s not. It’s one that attempts to utilize a tried and tested formula in games, but just falls on the side of mediocrity. What’s even more regretful is that it’s fun and quirky exterior betrays what’s actually inside, a somewhat flawed and highly repetitive game.”

The list of free games for November also includes Monkey Island: SE. It has been free since the first day of the month and will be available gratis until November 15. Originally released in 1990, the game’s special edition was released in 2009 on Xbox 360, PS3 and other platforms. The game “faithfully re-imagines the internationally-acclaimed classic pirate adventure game from LucasArts in gorgeous HD detail,” the game’s page on the Xbox Marketplace noted.

Aside from these free games, Xbox Live Gold members can also take advantage of this week’s Deals with Gold promo offering huge discounts for Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles. For instance, the current promo highlights the discounted Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. A previous article by the Inquisitr reported that Microsoft offered a free trial for this game compilation last weekend as part of its Multiplayer All-Access Event.

And now, gamers who took advantage of this free trial will be given the chance to continue their Borderlands experience by buying it for a whopping 60 percent discount. Instead of paying the full price of $60 for the action, role-playing, first-person game, Xbox Live Gold members can have this special compilation on Xbox One for only $25, which already includes the definitive versions of both the Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Microsoft’s current Deals with Gold program, scheduled to run until Monday, November 7, also offers 60 percent price markdown for Evolve, Evolve Digital Deluxe Edition, and Evolve Ultimate Edition. Moreover, the biggest discount is given to Pumped BMX+, as it’s almost free this week, with a current price tag of $2.50 instead of its usual $10 value.

Video games published by EA Sports are also on sale, including the football simulation, FIFA 17. The Standard, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe editions of the Xbox One game are now cheaper by up to 35 percent for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Hockey fans, on the other hand, can enjoy the discounted editions of EA Sports’ NHL 17.

As for Xbox Live Gold’s Xbox 360 deals, some of the games that are on sale this week offer as much as an 85 percent discount, including Bellator: MMA Onslaught, de Blob 2, Deadliest Warrior, Deadliest Warrior Legends, Madden NFL 17, FIFA 17 Standard Edition, and Conan.
