Lupita Nyong’o Kills Salt ‘N’ Pepa’s ‘Whatta Man’ As Regina Hall Does ‘Earned It’ On ‘Lip Sync Battle’ [Video]

Lupita Nyong’o has rocked the Internet with her rendition of Salt-N-Pepa’s “Whatta Man,” in a sexy dance that showed Lupita in a whole new light. Lupita’s dance has the web asking for moviemakers to place Lupita in roles other than ones like 12 Years a Slave as Patsey or other roles that don’t highlight Lupita’s fun and sexy side.

Lupita’s name is currently trending on Twitter, with folks commenting that they didn’t realize Lupita had dancing skills like those shown in the above video.

The YouTube video, titled “Lupita Nyong’o’s ‘Whatta Man’ vs. Regina Hall’s ‘Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)’ | Lip Sync Battle,” has swelled to nearly 10,000 views on the Lip Sync Battle on Spike YouTube channel. It was uploaded on November 2, and is gaining a boatload of attention in the 24 hours or so since it made its appearance on YouTube.

The shocked reaction of L.L. Cool J says it all as he watched Lupita transform from a prim firefighter in the dance to a woman who dances all over a fireman. The strong guy lifts Lupita whilst she still sits in a chair, and gingerly places Lupita on the ground, before picking her up with ease.

Folks are commenting on the loveliness of Lupita’s skin as she donned a wig and worked it.

Even Hall had to give Lupita kudos for her performance during Salt-N-Pepa’s “Whatta Man” song. Regina’s rendition was more of a funny romp, with Hall dressed like The Weeknd — replete with the locks that he used to wear — as Hall took on a bondage type of silly farce with the Fifty Shades of Grey song, which is the Weeknd’s “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey).” Whereas in the original video, The Weeknd stared intensely at the bodies of the dancers, Hall’s version showed her with beard stubble glued to her face, as Regina rejected the S&M type of fare being thrust upon Hall.

Lupita is a 33-year-old actress who was raised in Kenya, and gained fame in 2013 as the slave girl Patsey in 12 Years a Slave, as reported by IMDB. After graduating from the Yale School of Drama, Lupita found herself growing in popularity once her supreme acting skills were put on display in the popular film. Even Christian rapper LeCrae mentions Lupita in one of his songs.

Lupita has been considered a very serious actress, taking on solemn roles ever since winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role — the first Kenyan to ever win an Oscar.

However, now that Lupita has shown off her dancing and rapping skills, 2014’s World’s Most Beautiful woman, as deemed by People, has people on social media begging to see more of Lupita’s lighthearted side in additional films and TV roles.
