Arsenal Vs. Tottenham, North London Derby 2016: Preview, Prediction, Line-Ups, & Betting Tips

Arsenal and Tottenham will face each other in the Premier League as London heats up for the greatest derby in the city.

The teams suffered different fortunes in the Champions League this week with Arsenal winning against Ludogorets despite being 2-0 at one point, while Tottenham suffered a home loss against Bayer Leverkusen.

Tottenham, who played in their new temporary home at Wembley, were undone by Kevin Kampl’s goal in the 65th minute to continue their winless streak, which means now they have not won a single match in last six games.

Granit Xhaka and Oliver Giroud scored for the Gunners to bring back parity to the scoreline near the end of first half. But Mesut Ozil scored a brilliant solo goal with what was probably the most spectacular shot of his career to win the match for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Speaking at a press conference, as per the Mirror, Wenger said, “It’s a very important game. “We’re in a strong position in the league and we want to strengthen”.

One of the important issues Wenger talked was the discipline of his players in the upcoming match. While every game is important, the next match which will, without a doubt, fill the players with lots of adrenaline.

The Frenchman expressed his concern over the card issues of the £33 million signing from this summer, Granit Xhaka.

“Discipline is important and we want to be effective in the situations we face in a derby. I think he’s quite a composed and calm guy, sometimes on the field the reaction is a bit impulsive. “He needs to work on that and his control in the game.”

Tottenham: Team News

Winger Moussa Sissoko is serving the final game of his three-match ban, so he will not play a part in the game. Manager Mauricio Pochettino is concerned about the fitness of the quartet of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Kane, Mousa Dembele, and Erik Lamela.

A winless run of six games and the absence of many key players means Tottenham will face Arsenal in a very difficult situation, which club captain Hugo Lloris mentioned before the game, as reported by the Evening Standard.

“We cannot be in a worse situation. We need to learn quickly because there is a big game on Sunday. The derby is always important and we need to forget about this disappointment and be ready.”

Arsenal is well placed to win this game. They art unbeaten in the last 15 games while winning 12 of those games, and there have been clean sheets in three of last five games. The new-found defensive partnership between Mustafi and Koscielny means Arsenal has found a solid defensive foundation that Arsenal fans have long hoped for.
