Duggar Family Fans Revolting: Why They May Skip ‘Counting On’ Season 3

Fans of the Duggar family may not tune in for another season of the Counting On if the TLC reality series doesn’t stop dragging out storylines out and re-showing the same courtship, engagement, and wedding footage over and over again.

As the Hollywood Gossip reports, Duggar family fans took yet another trip down memory lane during last night’s episode of Counting On, which was titled “Duggars at the Altar.” TLC tried to get viewers excited about Jinger Duggar’s upcoming wedding by revisiting Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar’s walks down the aisle, but the decision to drag out Season 2 of Counting On with a series of clip shows isn’t paying off.

After fans of the Duggar family discovered that “Duggars at the Altar” consisted entirely of footage that they’ve already seen before (much like last week’s “After Show” episode), they took to the internet to complain about Counting On‘s lack of new material.

“I love the Duggars but TLC just doesn’t listen to us the viewers. We are tired of telling them over and over again to stop showing us old footage. It’s like they want the show to crash and burn,” one anonymous fan wrote on the Duggar Family Blog.

“Totally old footage. TLC isn’t even trying any more. They’ve got to stretch it to make Jinger’s wedding be Season 3. They just won’t give up, will they?” another commented.

On the Counting On Facebook page, many disappointed fans of the Duggar family revolted and threatened to stop watching the show. Some even revealed that they skipped last night’s episode after discovering that it was mostly recaps before it aired.

“Saw what it was about and immediately deleted it. Through with this show it is boring,” Deberah Davis wrote.

“I didn’t watch tonight’s episode because I have seen their weddings a million times,” Michelle Murphree Adams commented.

As the Hollywood Gossip reports, fans aren’t just tired of TLC using old footage as filler on the Duggar family’s TLC series; they’re also annoyed with the network for dragging out storylines. Because it takes so long to produce Counting On episodes, viewers learned about Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s engagement months before the big moment aired on TV. Fans got tired of waiting to watch Jeremy pop the question, and now they may have to wait even longer to see Jinger and Jeremy’s wedding.

According to the International Business Times, Jinger and Jeremy will likely tie the knot this week, which means that there will be not time to produce a wedding special for this season of Counting On. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the show is returning for a third season, so fans will likely have to wait until next year to see Jinger’s ceremony. And if Counting On follows the same Duggar wedding game plan as 19 Kids and Counting did, viewers will have to sit through about a dozen wedding prep episodes before the wedding special airs.

However, Season 3 of Counting On won’t be all about Jinger Duggar’s wedding; her older sister Jessa does have a baby to birth, and that big moment will likely be filmed for the show. Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard also plan on returning to Central America, so perhaps they’ll get a special farewell party episode. There are also rumors that 19-year-old Joy-Anna Duggar is currently courting a mystery boy so that she could create a new storyline for Season 3.

Unfortunately for Duggar family fans who don’t want to see any more old footage on Counting On, all of these situations provide the perfect setups for walks down memory lane. For the arrival of Jessa Duggar’s second child, viewers will likely be treated to footage of her bloody first birth, and an episode focused on Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s departure for Central America can be padded with previously-seen clips of their life in El Salvador. However, a Joy-Anna Duggar courtship would provide the best opportunity for reusing as much old footage as possible; if she announces that she’s seeing someone, TLC can revisit Jill, Jessa, and Jinger’s courtships.

TV Guide describes next week’s episode of Counting On, “Courting Jinger,” as a “profile of Jinger as her wedding approaches,” so it will likely be loaded with old clips from Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting.
