Phaedra Parks On Apollo Nida: Hasn’t Seen Her Estranged Husband Since Last Year

Phaedra Parks announced that she was ready to divorce her husband last year on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Parks felt betrayed after she learned that her husband had done some sketchy business dealings and he was sentenced to 8 years behind bars. Parks felt betrayed, because she was now left to raise their two sons by herself. In addition, Phaedra works as a lawyer and she felt that her husband had completely betrayed her in several ways. When Apollo Nida was sentenced and jailed, Parks went to visit him once in prison – and she hasn’t been back since.

According to a new Bravo report, Phaedra Parks is now revealing what has been going on in her life since the previous season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta wrapped just last year. Last year, Phaedra filed for divorce from her husband after she felt that he had completely betrayed her. For a while, Parks was questioning whether a divorce was the right solution for her, so the divorce proceedings were slow. But it sounds like things have come to an end based on her own comments to ABC News recently.

“I’m glad that I’m able to enter a new chapter in my life, but at the same time as a woman and as a probably anal person who’s very ambitious, you don’t want to be the most successful business person and be a failure at personal relationships,” Phaedra Parks reveals about her marriage to Apollo, sharing that she hasn’t seen him since she went to visit him while filming the show last year.

“I’ll always love him because he’s the father of my children so I can never be regretful of that because out of our union came these beautiful awesome kids,” Phaedra Parks explains of her marriage, adding, “But as far as being in love with him romantically, I’m definitely not at that place in my life anymore.”

Even when Parks was filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta, she did everything she could to protect her children from whatever Nida was doing. One can imagine that her feelings changed when he started putting his scheming business dealings before his family. These days, Phaedra is doing everything possible to raise her sons.

“Where we feel his absence [is] when the boys ask, ‘Show me how to play football.’ I know obviously quite a bit about the game, but I’m not the best football coach,” Phaedra Parks points out, sharing that she’s doing the best she can in raising two boys, adding, “I make it a point to try and engage good role models.”

While filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Parks made sure to surround her sons with role models and these men now include Judge Greg Mathis, Pastor Jamal Bryant, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and Louis Farrakhan. These guys are there for her sons whenever they need that male role model that Nida can’t be these days. And while these men are role models for her sons, they are not linked to Phaedra romantically. But she does have her eye out for a new man, who can accept the fact that she has two children.

“Obviously when you’re on a television show, you have to be somewhat guarded and when you’re a parent you have to be somewhat protective because I’ve got these two boys,” she told ABC News, according to Bravo, adding, “I always said if I dated someone they would really be dating my two children. It would be a joint venture for all of us.”

What do you think of Phaedra Parks’ decision not to visit Apollo Nida in prison? Do you think she’s doing the right thing in protecting her sons?
