Maren Morris Nominated For Five 2016 Country Music Association Awards: What Reality Shows Turned Her Down?

Maren Morris has done a great job of becoming a name everyone knows in the country music industry, but her career didn’t start out that easy. E! Online shared all about the singer of the song “My Church” and how more than one reality show actually turned her down before she got to the point in her career where she is at now. Maren Morris is nominated for five different awards at the 2016 CMA Awards happening tomorrow night.

This is Maren Morris’ first year on the country charts, and she was nominated for Single, Song, Female Vocalist and Album of the Year, as well as New Artist of the Year in her first year. Maren says that LeAnn Rimes and Patsy Cline are two of her favorite country artists and she grew up in Texas. She started out writing poetry, but the singer then turned it into music. Maren’s dad bought her a guitar at the age of 12.

When Maren Morris was 20 years old, she moved to Nashville to work on her career. This was huge for her, but it looks like it all worked out for the best. Maren is happy with where she is now, but to get there, she had to be turned down by two of the biggest reality shows for musicians out there. Maren Morris was actually turned down by both American Idol and The Voice, but it didn’t keep her from trying.

Rolling Stone shared that Maren Morris isn’t the only artist to make it big after being turned down by one of these major reality shows. Hillary Scott of the hit group Lady Antebellum was also turned down by American Idol. She is the daughter of famous singer Linda Davis, but that didn’t help her to get on the show. Colbie Caillat, Tori Kelly, and Robyn Troup were all turned down by the show, too. It all ended up working out okay for these singers just like it did for Maren Morris.

Maren Morris started out making a name for herself as a songwriter and then moved on to performing and getting fans that way as well. She explained that it wasn’t a huge decision she made to be an artist. Maren Morris said, “It was more, am I ready to face my point of view? I would have been happy just being a songwriter, but there was a voice in my head saying, you’ve got to sing these.” The song “My Church” is the one that changed her life. Maren explained hearing it on the radio for the first time to Glamour.

“It was snowing in Nashville, and I freaked out. I had to quickly park because I didn’t want to be driving at such an emotional moment. You work your entire life to hear that one three-minute moment, and it’s just so cool. Every time I hear it now, I turn it up on the radio. I never get sick of it.”

Maren Morris has been out on tour with Keith Urban, which, of course, is helping out with her career and getting new fans. Now she is going to be performing at one of the biggest awards shows for country music and on its 50th anniversary too. Things have really changed for Maren Morris over the past few years.
