WWE News: Huge Updates To Team Raw For Survivor Series Elimination Matches

Survivor Series is going to mean something for the first time in several years for the WWE. Prior to the Raw Supershow era, the brand split allowed for Survivor Series to create competition between the brands in a 5-on-5 elimination match. There was usually something on the line as well. Survivor Series is known for its great elimination matches. It became a tradition until the brand split ended. Once Smackdown Live and WWE Raw combined, the aura of the traditional elimination match lost its power.

There was no longer any rivalry and competition. The WWE got rid of the only competition they had since other wrestling promotions couldn’t be spoken about around World Wrestling Entertainment. Nobody has the budget, roster or commitment from a fan base that the WWE does. After a few years, it was unfair to compare the Independent scene to anything the WWE produced. That’s why the WWE Draft and brand split worked so well. Vince McMahon knew it would work.

The brand split is bringing back one of the five oldest pay-per-views the WWE has currently. It will give fans a chance to see more than just the main event superstars on a big night. Normally, the “survivor” is a veteran that will enhance a storyline. Either that, or it’s a young WWE star who needs a “rub,” as it were.In 2014, Dolph Ziggler was one of the most over men in all of wrestling when he got that aforementioned rub from John Cena. That amounted to literally nothing.

Last night on WWE Raw, they addressed the Survivor Series matches with actual progress towards them. With one battle royal completed and three of the top-four men secured, it appears the build towards Survivor Series is in full swing. According to SEScoops.com, there are big updates to the WWE Raw Survivor Series elimination match teams.

“Following Monday’s RAW, Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho were confirmed for Team RAW in the men’s traditional elimination match at Survivor Series. One other Superstar will be added to Team RAW, with Team SmackDown participants to be named tonight.”

“It was also announced on RAW that the women’s team for Survivor Series will feature Women’s Champion Charlotte, Bayley, Nia Jax and two others. RAW Tag Team Champions The New Day later confirmed that they will be the team captains for the RAW vs. SmackDown match with tag teams.”

As of right now, it’s Strowman, Reigns, Owens, and Jericho vs. Team Smackdown Live. It will be Heath Slater and Rhyno and the Hype Bros. vs. the New Day and other tag-teams in the tag-team elimination. As for the women, Nikki Bella is the team captain for Smackdown Live. The only other woman that was confirmed was Natalya, but she won’t be participating in the Survivor Series women’s elimination tag-team match.

According to WrestleZone.com, Survivor Series will be four hours this year, instead of the usual three. That will also include a two-hour pre-show. The opinions of many foreshadow a very bad reaction to the time length of the show. Even three hours is just way too long, and the WWE refuses to see that in the ratings and WWE Network numbers.

According to a recent article by the Inquisitr, Randy Orton might not partake in Survivor Series this year. He might continue his feud with the Wyatt Family, but last week’s cryptic message by the Viper could mean something different. Either way, the WWE is bringing something to the table for Survivor Series, and the WWE Universe deserves it after the terrible bookings Raw brings on a weekly basis.
