Canadian Investigators Launch Amanda Todd Investigation

A probe into the death of Amanda Todd has been launched by Canadian authorities. The 15-year-old had posted a YouTube video in which she described years of bullying at the hands of various people. Just over one month after posting her video, the teen committed suicide.

In her video, Todd said she was pressured into showing her breasts to a man online. That man took a screenshot of the act and posted it online, sending it to everyone Amanda Todd knew.

Todd says that following the flashing incident, she eventually changed schools but the photo followed her.

According to authorities, they want to talk with “anyone that had contact with her,” but they will not say if they are searching for the man who spread the photo.

While authorities are currently calling the death a suicide, they have not ruled out foul play. Law enforcement officials have said the death was not suspicious.

Before her death, Amanda Todd described her battle with depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol use, self-harm, and even a suicide attempt in which she was rushed to the hospital after drinking bleach. Todd’s fellow students, after learning of the bleach drinking attempt, suggested she drink bleach again. Amanda also told the story of being beat up by a girl after she “hooked up” with the girl’s boyfriend. According to Todd in a written video statement:

“She threw me to the ground and punched me several times. Kids filmed it. I was all alone and left on the ground.”
