Val Kilmer Battling Cancer? Michael Douglas Says ‘Things Don’t Look Good’ For ‘Batman’ Star

Val Kilmer is allegedly battling cancer and “things don’t look good for him,” according to actor and friend Michael Douglas.

While suspicions have surrounded the health of Kilmer the past few years, the Batman Forever and Top Gun star has denied that he’s seriously ill. Douglas revealed in an exclusive report by The Sun that Val Kilmer is possibly fighting cancer.

Douglas hinted that Kilmer is fighting the same type of cancer he was diagnosed with six years ago — throat cancer. He opened up about how his friend is doing during a Q&A with Jonathan Ross at An Evening with Michael Douglas at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Saturday. He was discussing a movie that he filmed with Kilmer back in 1996 called The Ghost in the Darkness.

“The picture didn’t turn out as well as I hoped but I had a wonderful time. Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don’t look too good for him.

“My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”

Val Kilmer, 56, has vehemently denied having cancer after he was admitted into the hospital in January 2015 due to bleeding in his throat. In spite of the evidence he wasn’t looking or feeling well, the actor wrote a message on his Facebook page that he was “perfectly well” and that, “I do not have cancer or a tumor.”

Kilmer added that he did undergo a medical procedure later that year that left him with severe swelling, but he didn’t disclose what it was for. All he revealed was that he had tests done at UCLA’s intensive care unit for a “possible tumor,” claimed it was a simple “complication.”

He was seen with a tracheostomy tube in his neck. He again insisted he wasn’t ill, writing another Facebook post that everything was just fine.

“Thank you all for your love and support. There’s a rumor I’m unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue. I was in to verify I have no tumor or infection of any kind which was verified by the very caring experts at UCLA.”

Michael Douglas revealed in 2010 that he was battling throat cancer before undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. In 2011, his cancer was gone. More to the story emerged in 2013 when Douglas admitted it was tongue cancer, but his doctor advised him against announcing that due to possible facial disfigurement.

So, when Douglas says Val Kilmer is fighting exactly what he had, is he referring to throat or tongue cancer? By virtue of the fact that Kilmer has been allegedly dealing with throat issues, it’s perceived to be throat cancer. Douglas wasn’t specific in his revelation during the Q&A.

Several news sources have reached out to Kilmer regarding Michael Douglas’ comments.

The Batman star posted a short video on Facebook seen below as a tribute to David Bowie and appeared to be doing well.

If Val Kilmer is battling cancer, he may be concealing it to avoid media attention over his health. Some celebrities wish to fight their health problems in private as much as possible, not wanting illness to overshadow the stardom they’ve derived from their immense talents. In glancing through his Facebook page, the actor appears well and stays quite active on the social media platform. How he’ll respond to claims made by Michael Douglas remains to be seen at this point.
