Beyonce Confirms Super Bowl Halftime Show

Beyonce will be singing during halftime at Super Bowl XLVII.

Rumors circulated this morning that the Grammy Award winning singer would take the stage during the halftime show in New Orleans.

A source told the AP:

“A source familiar with the Super Bowl told The Associated Press the Grammy-winning diva will take the stage at the halftime show on Feb. 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.”

Well, the rumors were true. The singer confirmed the news this afternoon with a photo on Twitter. Beyonce posted a photo of herself with the words Feb 3, 2013 written in eye-black on her face.

The official Super Bowl twitter account also confirmed the news, writing: “Beyonce will perform @pepsi #SB47 Halftime Show in New Orleans. February 3 2013 on @cbs.”

The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most high profile stages in American entertainment. According to Reuters, Beyonce’s halftime performance will be witnessed by over 100 million people. Past performers have included Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, and Michael Jackson. Last year, Madonna took the stage with some help from Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.

Do you think Beyonce was a good choice for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show? Do you think she’ll bring special guests up on stage like her husband Jay-Z?
