Jill Duggar’s Behavior Worries ‘Counting On’ Fans: Is Derick Dillard’s Missionary Work Selfish?

Jill Duggar got emotional while discussing life in El Salvador during the most recent episode of Counting On, and some fans are concerned that she’s struggling to adapt to life as a missionary’s wife.

In a video clip from the Counting On “After Show” special, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard sit down with producer Scott Enlow to talk about their mission work. Throughout the second season of Counting On, Jill and Derick have constantly reminded fans that they’re living in a dangerous place where they have to worry about violence, rape, murder, and kidnapping. However, as Us Weekly reports, Jill’s scariest moment in El Salvador did not involve a violent local.

“One night, we were getting ready to go to bed, and we heard this loud crashing sound. Derick’s like, ‘You go in the bathroom,’ which is our safe room. We have our laptops, so we were messaging people back home like, ‘Pray for us. We don’t know what’s going on,'” Jill said as she began to cry.

After Jill dried her tears and was capable of finishing the story, she revealed that the crash was caused by a falling shower curtain rod.

Jill Duggar’s tearful reaction to something that turned out to be nothing has Counting On fans worried about her well-being. On the show’s Facebook page, some viewers have accused Derick of being selfish by forcing Jill to live a lifestyle she’s simply not cut out for.

“Derick, she gave you a year. It’s time to stay home. She wants to raise a family and have a home on USA soil. Don’t be selfish. I know there are shorter lengths of time missions. You have plenty of time,” one viewer wrote.

“I got the feeling they’re having issues over this. Jill wants to stay, Derick wants to go back. She seemed miserable and rolled her eyes a couple of times when he spoke. He needs to stop being selfish by putting his wife and child in that horrible situation,” another commented.

Jill Duggar hasn’t just freaked out over a falling shower rod. As the Inquisitr previously reported, a bolt of lightning also struck fear in her heart. According to Jill, she thought Derick came dangerously close to being killed when a bolt of lightning hit a tree near their house.

Jill has been homeschooled her entire life, and the Arkansas native is used to being surrounded by a large number of family members. When Derick decided to move his sheltered wife to El Salvador, he removed her from the only support system she’s ever known. The couple also brought a helpless infant with them, and fans of the Duggar family have been worried about the possibility of something bad happening to the little boy. As the Hollywood Gossip reports, Jill and Derick have fueled these concerns by sharing multiple social media photos of their son, Israel, sporting facial bruises.

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are currently back in the States after spending almost a year in Central America, but they aren’t back for good. In a blog post on the Dillard Family website, Derick writes that their stay will be a brief one. However, there is one way Jill can avoid going back to El Salvador if she really doesn’t want to return to the country. As Us Weekly reports, Derick has said that his family may stay put in Arkansas if Jill gets pregnant with her second child.

During the Counting On “After Show” special, Jill dropped a huge hint that she’s hoping to get pregnant before her time at home runs out.

“I’ve taken a ton of pregnancy tests,” she revealed. “But I’m not pregnant.”

The “After Show” special was likely filmed a few weeks ago, but the Stir reports that Jill Duggar still hasn’t had any luck conceiving since then. In an October 21 tweet, Derick Dillard shot down rumors that his wife is pregnant, so Jill’s future may include a lot more tears.
