Mariah Carey’s Reality Show Facing Cancellation After James Packer Split?

Could Mariah Carey’s reality show be canceled before it even airs?

Earlier this year, the singer announced she had signed a deal with the E! network to start production on a six-episode docu-series, titled Mariah’s World, that would follow her life in the midst of prepping for a tour and gearing up for her wedding to James Packer.

Of course, now that Carey is said to have dumped James, producers for the show are worried that fans will not be tuning in anymore because of the fact that the footage will seem dated by the time it airs.

Fans are to note that the main reason behind the reality show was to follow Mariah Carey’s life as she prepared for her wedding to her former billionaire fiancé, who she allegedly hasn’t seen in over a month.

And to make matters worse, most of the footage was taken back in May, with the actual show itself not premiering until December. Gossip Cop states that producers are “freaking out” about the situation because they don’t know how to handle the mess that’s now been caused.

Nobody expected the couple to break up and go their separate ways, which is making producers wonder whether they should cancel the entire series to begin with, convinced that the episodes will appear to be quite irrelevant by the time they are shown on television.

“Similarly, Gossip Cop is also told that Carey’s own camp is ‘panicking.’ The superstar’s team was banking on Mariah’s World being a success, and the planning of her nuptials was seen to be a key part of it, particularly if the series was going to do well enough for a second season.”

The reality show was expected to tie in with Mariah Carey’s plans to announce work on her next studio album. Fans will be disappointed to see the reality show now that they know Mariah is no longer with James, Perez Hilton suggests. And because of that simple reason alone, the show may never end up being shown.

News of Mariah Carey’s reality show facing the boot before it has even aired comes just days after sources alleged that the “Butterfly” singer was the one who dumped James Packer, who she supposedly branded as “mentally unstable.”

An incident on the billionaire’s yacht in Greece last month became the tipping point for Mariah Carey to leave the relationship once and for all.

There had also been several conflicted situations concerning Packer and Mariah’s backup dancers, who he believed were beginning to get too close to his then-fiancée. Packer was even alleged to have violently threatened one of her dancers to keep his distance from Carey, causing quite the drift between the former couple.

At this point, it is unclear whether Mariah Carey’s reality show will still premiere this December, but considering the fact that the footage of the docu-series will be out of date by the time that it airs, it’s more than likely that E! will shelve it instead.

In other words, it’s very likely that the show will never air.

What do you make of the news about Mariah Carey, her breakup with James Packer, and the potential fact that you may never get to see Mariah’s World in full action? Do you think the show should still premiere this December?
