Miley Cyrus Admits She’s Annoyed That Gwen Stefani Is Taking Her Seat For ‘The Voice’ Season 12

Miley Cyrus isn’t going to be a coach on Season 12 of The Voice, and she’s not happy about it.

Gwen Stefani has been invited to return the NBC reality singing competition for the first time since Season 9, which means that Miley is being forced to vacate her spinning red seat for Blake Shelton’s glamorous girlfriend. Even though Gwen was on the show first, Miley is a bit bitter about getting the boot.

During her recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Miley Cyrus admitted that it’s been difficult to say goodbye to her coaching spot.

“I’m getting jealous. I just saw them out there right now filming and it’s hard,” Miley said of Gwen Stefani and the other Season 12 coaches.

“I miss my chair. Someone else’s ass is in my chair right now, and I don’t like it.”

However, the pop star told Ellen DeGeneres that she’s trying to be understanding of the situation. She knows that the seat she’s occupied during Season 11 of The Voice used to belong to Gwen, so she’s begrudgingly giving it up without a fight.

“But I guess it used to be her ass, and I’m in her chair, so…” Miley Cyrus said of Gwen Stefani’s return to the show.

Miley previously told Variety that she only signed on for Season 11 of The Voice to promote her Happy Hippie foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless and LGBTQ youth. However, it sounds like she’s really started to enjoy her job.

As E! News reports, Cyrus will return for Season 13 of The Voice, but there’s no word on who she’ll be joined by. In addition to Stefani, the full Season 12 coaching panel includes Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys, and Adam Levine.

According to Radar Online, Blake Shelton orchestrated Gwen Stefani’s return to The Voice by strongly suggesting that he would vacate his seat if the producers didn’t kick Miley Cyrus to the curb and give Gwen her spot.

“Blake made it clear to the producers that he wanted Gwen by his side for the upcoming season. It almost seemed like if she did not return then neither would he!” an insider said.

The source revealed that Miley Cyrus did prove to be an asset to The Voice by attracting the eyeballs of younger viewers, which is the demographic that television producers desire most. However, The Voice producers allegedly believe that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s romance is an even bigger draw for viewers.

There have been numerous reports of drama between Miley Cyrus, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani. According to one rumor, Stefani is trying to get Cyrus removed from Season 13 of The Voice because she’s jealous of the younger pop star. However, a source told Gossip Cop that this is completely untrue — Stefani isn’t envious of Cyrus, and she’s not fighting to keep her off the show. Gossip Cop has also debunked a rumor that Stefani is “furious” with Shelton and Cyrus for flirting on The Voice set.

Based on what Miley Cyrus told Ellen DeGeneres, she’s too chatty for Blake Shelton’s tastes, so Gwen Stefani has nothing to worry about.

“I have a lot to say, like maybe sometimes too much,” Miley admitted. “If you’re watching The Voice, that’s kind of their ongoing slap to me — that I talk too much.”

As Us Weekly reports, all it took was one episode of The Voice for Blake to tire of hearing Miley’s voice. During the Season 11 premiere, he used a megaphone to talk over her, and he also put on a pair of “Miley-proof” earmuffs.

However, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Blake insisted that he and Miley are pals.

“We completely understand each other, and just because she lives her life one way and I live my life one way doesn’t mean we’re not friends. Because, God, if that was the case, I wouldn’t have — especially in this town, Los Angeles — everyone would hate me.”
