‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Spoilers: Daryl Dixon May Not Survive The Season-Long Struggle With Negan

The Walking Dead spoilers for Season 7 may not be kind to fans of Daryl Dixon, with mounting evidence that the fan-favorite character might not end up surviving the season-long struggle with Negan.

The potential death of Daryl has been a topic of speculation for years, with reports across many seasons that the Norman Reedus character was at the end of his line. But Daryl has found a way to survive in every situation, even when so many others around him have died.

That luck could soon be running out. In the season premiere, Daryl attacked Negan after the leader of the Saviors beat Abraham to death. Daryl leaped to his feet to punch Negan, which in turn led Negan to pick another victim — Glenn.

Many fans are blaming Daryl’s actions for causing Glenn’s death, but there is speculation that it could eventually lead to Daryl’s death as well. A leaked photo from The Walking Dead set appears to show Daryl being disemboweled, which spoilers indicate is part of a story line that will emerge later in the season as Daryl is being held hostage by Negan.

Cheat Sheet predicted that Daryl could end up dying in Season 7 after his Season 6 attack that left several members of the Saviors dead. Though the report came before the premiere and speculated that Daryl was the one killed by Negan in the initial showdown, the prediction could remain true for any point in the season.

“Unfortunately, Daryl’s ultimate moment of Daryl-ness may have sealed his fate. Eagle-eyed viewer Vinnie Gorham (via Uproxx) spotted a mysterious car rolling off in the distance behind the bikers. Could that be Negan? If so, Daryl just provided the perfect motivation for Negan to want to bash his skull in with a baseball bat.”

There had been rumors throughout last season that Daryl Dixon might be the one killed off in the initial confrontation with Negan. Some television critics noted that Reedus was shifting some focus to his own AMC reality show, called Ride with Norman Reedus, and might be using that as a way to transition out of The Walking Dead. In the end, Reedus was able to film the entire series in The Walking Dead‘s offseason so it didn’t conflict with his time on set, but it kick-started plenty of ongoing speculation that Daryl’s days may be numbered.

Norman Reedus has also thrown some fuel on the fire with his comments about Daryl Dixon. In an interview with ComicBook.com, he openly speculated about Daryl’s death and how he thought it should be handled.

“I’d like him to just walk away and just walk away into the woods, and people go, ‘Where the heck is that guy?’ It’s like, ‘Oh, he gets shot.’ ‘Oh, he turns into a zombie.’ ‘They put him down.’ We’ve seen all of that happen so many times. I think with Daryl, because he came in that way, I think he should go out that way. He should just walk away, and people are like, ‘What ever happened to him?’ Nobody knows. He’s like the Outlaw Josey Wales or some s**t.”

While it appeared clear that Reedus was just sharing his personal thoughts and likely not revealing any potential story lines, the fact that he’s openly talking about Daryl Dixon’s death has many fans worried. And the spoilers pointing to the death of Daryl Dixon are complicated by the fact that his character doesn’t have a counterpart in the comic series.

But if The Walking Dead Season 7 spoilers are true and Daryl Dixon ends up dying at the hands of Negan (or his crew), then it won’t be happening anytime soon. MovieFone has published a full list of which episodes each character will be appearing in, and it shows that Daryl will be part of the action all the way until the finale in the 13th episode. Negan is expected to be in that episode as well, setting up what could be a final confrontation between the two.
