Mariah Carey has been dumped by billionaire casino mogul James Packer. Mariah and Packer’s split occurred as a result of the couple clashing over the pop star’s new reality TV series, “Mariah’s World” and her extravagant spending habits, according to Women’s Day. Will Packer allow Mimi to keep her $10 million dollar engagement ring?
According to Women’s Day, the multi-million dollar diamond ring Mariah received from Packer in January, is still hers to keep.
Mariah was set to expose her lavish life on her upcoming reality TV show. A close family friend confirmed to Women’s Day that Carey’s relationship with the tycoon is officially over. Packer wasn’t too happy with Carey’s choice to expose their lives to the world, the source adds.
“It’s all over… James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.”
This is no shock to friends and relatives of Packer. James’ family had reservations about the relationship from the beginning. Tension with Packer’s family began earlier this year when Mariah, 46, refused to attend James’ sister’s birthday in Sydney, Australia. James’ mother struggled to connect with Carey on an emotional level.
“When she refused to come to Australia for Gretel’s 5oth birthday party it created a lot of tension in the family. His mum hated to even hear her name mentioned, and James’ tight circle of friends never really thought they would marry.”
Rumors swirled for several weeks about the couple experiencing difficulties. During this time, Mariah was preoccupied with documenting her life for her reality TV series. A show James was very reluctant to participate in. In recent months, James grew more and more uncomfortable at the thought of exposing his private life on Mariah’s reality TV show, according to Woman’s Day. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on December 4, detailing Carey’s behind-the-scenes life and showcases the pop star’s lavish outings.
Due to increasing concerns from James’ friends and family, according to Woman’s Day, the couple has not spent much time together. A close friend of James maintains Mariah’s lifestyle and over the top spending sprees have been areas of concern for those close to Packer.
“James is very generous but Mariah takes it to the next level.”
Mariah Carey and James Packer met after one of Carey’s Las Vegas shows. A source close to the couple told E! Online that James was a huge fan of Mariah and the two “fell head over heels in love with one another.”
“They have a connection that is unparalleled; it’s been a very beautiful experience for them both. If you spend even five minutes with them, you can’t help but believe in true love.”

Further speculation was prompted in Mariah’s camp when the “Sweet Fantasy” singer canceled her upcoming tour dates in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. Mariah tells E! News she was devastated by the cancellation.
“To all of my lambs in South America, I am devastated that a portion of this tour had to be canceled. Thank you for all of the excitement and love – I hope to see you soon, my darlings.”
In the meantime, Mariah has been spending a lot of time with ex-husband, Nick Cannon.
Mariah will still perform in Mexico City and Monterrey next month. The 46-year-old singer will also head back to Las Vegas in 2017 for her #1 to Infinity show at Caesars Palace.
