Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show: Cops Fear Paris Terrorist Attacks At The Iconic Show

With the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016 heading to Paris in December for what AOL describes as an “extra sparkly” show, cops are super concerned about the safety of the models and the audience. So many big names in one place is always a security risk, but the concern over security in Paris is in the pink zone, if not the red zone.

TMZ reports that after the recent Kim Kardashian robbery in Paris, and the horrendous terrorist attacks last year right before the UN Climate talks, French national security forces and Victoria’s Secret officials are being extra vigilant. We have to give them credit for taking it seriously!

They’ve been “secretly working” together to identify and stop and “thwart possible plots” that could come up as the mega-show gets underway.

The big announcement about where the show would be held was only made on October 24, months later than usual. Victoria’s Secret normally publicize the city well in advance, and “typically the announcement is made in the Spring.” This year was different.

Organizers knew they “wanted Paris as the venue,” but the worries over the show becoming a target for violence made them hang on to the secret of the location until nearly the last minute.

Victoria’s Secret decision makers “feared if word got out it would give terrorists time to plan an attack.”

That’s a scary thought.

There are a ton of people who have no choice about going to the Paris show. Victoria’s Secret has already confirmed that “favorites Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, and Taylor Hill” will be walking in Paris.

It’s a huge show, with hundreds of people directly involved, from angels, makeup artists, and dressers all the way to business executives.

On top of that, the Victoria’s Secret show is the most watched fashion event of the year, and the audience will be enormous, unless fashionistas are too scared to risk a visit to the City of Lights. It’s very “high-profile” with “scores of big celebs” normally attending, and that definitely makes it a target for possible terrorist attacks.

The question now is how many will actually make the trip to Paris instead of just staying home to watch it on television in the comfort of their homes? Even for the super-rich, Paris is getting scarier every day.

Supermodel BFFs Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are on the list of models fans want to see, but with Kim Kardashian’s robbery experience so fresh, it’s unlikely that Kendall will want to go back to Paris anytime soon.

It was only a few short weeks ago that Kardashian was robbed, and there’s a lot of speculation around that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star’s robber experience is a big deal. Vanity Fair writes that the “future of Paris” and the safety of the great city’s citizens and guests may “depend on solving Kim Kardashian’s robbery.”

That message sure doesn’t make Victoria’s Secret fans feel any safer about visiting the City of Lights this December.

According to E! Online, the show is nearly always filmed in New York City, but there is precedent for it to move elsewhere. Victoria’s Secret 2014 “relocated” to London, and 16 years ago, Cannes was the city of choice.

Neither of those places were as big a security risk as Paris promises to be, although London has experienced more than its fair share of terrorist attacks in the last few years.

Would you go to Paris to see the show or would you chill on the couch and watch the filmed version?

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will air on Dec. 5, 2016, on CBS at 10 p.m. ET.
