‘Deadpool 2’: Quentin Tarantino Fans Petitioned Him To Direct, He Is A Comic Book Fan

Deadpool 2 movie fans reacted so much to Tim Miller leaving the director’s chair that they decided to create a petition for another big name helmer, Quentin Tarantino. Miller left the project due to mutual creative differences with Ryan Reynolds which leaves an empty director’s chair.

Fans would like Tarantino to take over that chair.

The petition can be found at Change.org.

“If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me! “

Fans probably figure the Deadpool 2 sequel would likely take inspiration from the vein of the Kill Bill movies.

Tarantino Is A Comic Book Fan

The director shared his take when it comes to the current trend of comic book movies. He really enjoys them and has enjoyed the comic books when he was young.

“I’ve been reading comic books since I was a kid, and I’ve had my own Marvel Universe obsessions for years.”

The only thing he wished was that he wasn’t 50-years-old when they finally decided to become popular. In the 80s, Tarantino proclaimed that was an era of when “movies sucked” and at that time he was working at a video store, but if they were popular then, he would have gone to see them, according to Vulture. He was cited saying the 80s had been a time in his life where he saw most movies, but now that he’s 50, he just doesn’t have the time.

“So I don’t really have a problem with the whole superhero thing right now, except I wish I didn’t have to wait until my 50s for this to be the dominant genre.”

Do Deadpool 2 movie fans think that he’d be anxious to do such a genre since it’s on a serious upswing?

Indie Film Experience Leads To Superhero Blockbuster?

Since there has been a pattern of indie film directors being asked to do block buster flicks like Star Wars or Jurassic World or even a superhero movie, would it not make sense that Tarantino would follow suit? After all, he did do Reservoir Dogs which brought him to an offer to work on Speed and Men in Black.

Tarantino Almost Made A Superhero Movie

Less than a year ago, the Kill Bill director talked about how he was eager to work on a Luke Cage, Hero for Hire movie. Apparently, he was a hero to Tarantino as a kid and the stories he read were formed in his head, according to Cinema Blend.

“One of the outside projects that I considered doing was a Luke Cage movie. Luke Cage was my hero when I was a kid collecting comic books. He was my favorite character, and I always made [the comics] into a movie in my head every time I [read] them.”

When MTV spoke with the director, he mentioned that back then Ed Pressman had owned the rights and even talked with Laurence Fishburne to star as Luke Cage, but he wound up writing Pulp Fiction.

Although Deadpool 2 movie fans would be eager to have Tarantino do a superhero movie, he claims he would create a superhero of his own creation. The director is known to make his own original material and isn’t a gun for hire.

A Cable Petition, Too?

Believe it or not, this isn’t the only Deadpool 2 petition created. Fans have also created a movement for Hellboy actor Ron Perlman to take on the role of Cable. He was cited as having a similar look to the mutant from the future and figured he would be a great actor to partner up with Ryan Reynolds in the flick.

Speaking of which, the reason why Tim Miller clashed with Reynolds was due in part of the possible casting for Cable. The actor in question is Kyle Chandler, according to The Wrap.

In the meantime, it’s time to look for another director, but the Deadpool 2 movie is still slated for Jan. 12, 2018.
