Russell Crowe Divorce? Actor Splits With Wife

Russell Crowe is getting a divorce. The Oscar-winner has reportedly split from wife of nine years, Danielle Spencer.

The couple have two children together, Charles, eight, and Tennyson, six. According to rumors the split was amicable between Crowe and Spencer, although sources say Russell has throw himself behind his work to deal with the loss of his marriage. Crowe is currently in the United States where he is filming the biblical tale of Noah.

Russell Crowe and his musician wife were wed in a chapel at Crowe’s farm in Nana Glen in 2003.

According to the Syndey Morning Herald:

“Spencer, quiet and unassuming, was the woman who tamed the Gladiator with her calm and steady nature. She has tried to pursue her own music career and was always matter-of-fact about Crowe’s fame and fortune: “All that stuff has nothing to do with me as a person,” she has said.

The couple, considered one of the more solid partnerships in Australian showbiz, faced rumours about their relationship in June when Spencer was pictured on a night out with Damian Whitewood, her dance partner from Seven’s Dancing With the Stars, at The Star in Sydney.”

The divorce, perhaps not surprisingly, comes at a time when Russell Crowe is at the busiest point in his professional life, filming back to back movies overseas. In 2013 Russell Crowe has a mind-boggling seven movies coming out including Man with the Iron Fist, Les Miserables, Broken City, Superman, Noah and his next project The Winter’s Tale which co-stars Colin Farrell and Will Smith.

It’s a sad end for the couple who first met 22 years ago on the set of The Crossing. Crowe and Spencer dated for a while after meeting but split up when Crowe headed to the United States to pursue his film career.
