‘SNL’ Tackles Vice Presidential Debate During Cold Opening [Video]

The Vice Presidential Debate last week put Joe Biden and Paul Ryan in the political spotlight. The two sparred over issues like abortion, foreign policy, and job growth, but after the debate people were only talking about one thing: Joe Biden’s laugh.

Depending on your political leanings, Biden’s constant grunting, moaning, smiling and laughing during the debate was seen as either a strong political weapon that made Ryan seem like a liar or like a sign of disrespect that has no place during a political debate.

The laugh was put front and center during the first few moments of SNL’s cold opener last night.

When Ryan, played by Taran Killam, gives his opening remarks, Biden, played by Jason Sudeikis, breaks into a fit of laughter.

SNL also mocks Biden’s “malarkey” comment. Many people felt that Biden’s Malarkey comment during the Vice Presidential debate was out of line but during the skit last night Biden seems to make the point that “malarkey” was the most polite thing he could have said in the moment.

The skit also makes reference to Ryan’s false marathon claim and includes a brief and out of place appearance from Usain Bolt.

Here’s the cold opening from Saturday Night Live.

Did you watch SNL last night? What did you think of the cold opening?
