‘Westworld’ Spoilers: Will A ‘Game Of Thrones’ Crossover Happen?

The two biggest shows on HBO right now are Game of Thrones and Westworld. And now, the latest Westworld spoilers suggest that a Game of Thrones crossover episode might be possible, and this is causing a lot of excitement among fans of both shows!

First, according to IndieWire‘s latest round of Westworld spoilers, the idea for a Game of Thrones crossover episode with the hit HBO show came from none other than Game of Thrones‘ creator George R.R. Martin. Martin’s idea was to have a Westeros-themed world that participants could enjoy. In addition, Martin thought it would be a good idea to have androids based off of some of his most beloved Game of Thrones characters.

In fact, Martin — who was a Hollywood writer for such TV shows as Beauty and the Beast before writing the A Song of Ice and Fire book series that would become the hit HBO show Game of Thrones — loved the idea so much that he pitched it to showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. So what was their reaction?

Well, according to the Morning Ledger‘s latest round of Westworld spoilers, while both Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are fans of the hit HBO show, they both confirmed that it’s highly unlikely that this idea will happen. According to the site, this is because Nolan and Joy would like the show to stand on its own, rather than serve as a promotional tool for another HBO show that already is doing well in the ratings.

However, Nolan said that he absolutely loves Martin, as a person, and he hopes to work with him in some capacity in the future.

“We love George and our daughter’s first trip anywhere in the world was out to Santa Fe for a screening of The Prestige at his theater, the Jean Cocteau. He’s a lovely guy and a stunning writer and it’s flattering he would encourage a crossover. We should be so lucky.”

Lisa Joy echoes Nolan’s sentiment, and further said that she is a fan of Game of Thrones as a show.

“I need to be believe that dragons are real. I want them be a real thing. So as much as I love George, I can’t lose that for myself!”

But other Westworld spoilers put out by Yibada suggest that there might be a familiar face popping up in an upcoming episode: Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. According to the outlet, if anyone would make a guest appearance in the show, it would be him, since he fits into the various themes of the different “worlds” available for visitors to participate in. So, Momoa may find himself being offered a guest starring role soon!

However, fans who are waiting for a special guest appearance by Khal Drogo himself will have to wait for a very long time, if ever. For one, it goes back to the same thing that was said earlier: Nolan and Joy don’t want Westworld to be a platform for other shows to promote themselves. In addition, the licensing logistics would be an absolute nightmare.
