Perrie Edwards Was ‘Homeless,’ Screaming, And Melting Down After Zayn Malik Split

Perrie Edwards is revealing all about her split with Zayn Malik. The Little Mix singer has not been holding back on what really went down when the former 1D member dumped her over the phone back in August 2015.

Perrie Edwards opened up in the girl group’s new book, Our World, about her split from ex-fiance Zayn Malik, saying she felt “homeless” and couldn’t stop crying after he called off their engagement, as cited by Us Weekly.

“After I split with my partner, out of the blue, I had nowhere to go, which was incredibly stressful,” the 23-year-old singer wrote. “For a while I had no idea what to do.”

Edwards lived with Malik in his multimillion-dollar North London home. She explained that her bandmates – Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirwall – said they offered her to stay with any of them, “but they didn’t really have the room.” Edwards didn’t want to become a burden to the girls since she was still hurting over the breakup. So, she called her mother, Debbie, who works in the pop star’s management team, to help her find a temporary home, as cited by E! Online.

“I told her I was stressed because I didn’t know what I should do about where to live once I got back to England,” Edwards shares. “She arranged … for me to stay in [Modest! Management owner Richard Griffiths’] guest cottage for as long as I needed, until I got on my feet again. Thank God for him. I put all my stuff in storage, took my dogs and more or less lived out of a suitcase for a good month and a half.”

This piece of information comes after Edwards recalled having a screaming match with Zayn Malik in the airport. Little Mix made an appearance on U.K.’s Heart Radio to promote their new single “Shout Out To My Ex,” as reported via E! Online. During the interview, Edwards opened up about the phone call she received from the “Pillowtalk” singer that led her to have a meltdown in the middle of the airport.

“I was at the airport and I got an awful phone call…from someone,” Edwards admitted during the interview. “And then…I just…what did I…I just remember screaming in the airport.”

Then her fellow band member Jade Thirwall jumped in to say that she, as well as the rest of the group, was there to protect her and help her get through this difficult moment in her life.

“[Perrie] had a little mini breakdown in the airport!” Thirwall said. “It was in the security line and so we thought ‘Oh God!'”

Edwards continued to explain the very moment when Malik dumped her via text message.

“I was like a woman possessed! It was awful,” she added. “It was just blubber and blubber and I thought I was going to explode.”

In another part of Little Mix’s book, the blonde beauty opened up about Malik’s decision to end their relationship via text message.

“It was horrible, the worst time of my life. A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that,” she said. “Even though things with my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me. … On the surface I was happy, but inside I felt broken.”

However, the British pop star previously denied the rumors that he dumped Edwards via text in his November 2015 interview with The Fader magazine.

“I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message,” he said. “I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that. She knows that, I know that and the public should know that as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did. I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”

Malik has since moved on with model Gigi Hadid, whom he started dating in late November 2015. While Edwards admits she’s living the single life, she has been linked to British actor Luke Pasqualino.
